Alpal:  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!   That's the original "strange noise" screaming!!  You seem to know me too well.

Lewing:  You are soooo sweet to be willing to share your leftover gumbo with me that if we ever go to War again, "I" am fighting for the North!  Well maybe I have to let DP fight for the South because another dear sweetheart of a poster just invited me in a PM to visit her and she would share her delicious gumbo and fares with me. 

You ALL are such wonderful, generous ladies to want to feed me!   But ladies, you do know I am kidding about being poverty ridden don't you?  Maybe the government's ratings on who is middle class has changed but I could really afford to buy a "few" crabs and maybe even a bit of shrimp if I just had a kitchen big enough to cook in.  But your graciousness is awesome!   Thank you sooooo much!  

Bren:  Thanks but "you" would have to PAY for all the ingredients and things I love can cost a lot to cook. I just couldn't do that to you in these expensive times.  Thanks anyway!

Meeting went well. We are waiting on pricing now for a variety of things .... I'll keep you posted.

Chicken with tomato sauce and pasta can be wonderful.  Have you ever heard of Chicken Parmesan?  A little wine and some mushrooms added to the tomato sauce or a little cheese make all the difference in the world. 

Chicken parm. that I've eaten wasn't shreaded chicken, and it Was great.  haven't tried picatta.  I guess it was a bit of not really caring for the cook that kept the flavor from being good to me.   LOL

and capers - I love capers!

Bren -  I have also been wondering where Athena is. I hope she drops in soon.

My MIL was Danish. She made all sorts of wonderful pickled dishes and sweet rolls and such, but her specialty was ......buttermilk soup. It tastes as wretched as it sounds. She was so proud of it, we always felt compelled to eat every bite. YUK!

Sounds like everyone is in a good mood today! 

I just finished making French toast with thick slices of raisin bread with vanilla and added some cinnamon to the eggs and half and half.  Buttered them up, then put confectioners sugar on the top---heaven on a plate!!!

Madalyn -

We didn't have Kringle, but she did make ebleskivers. They are wonderful. We now have her cast iron ebleskiver pan, and my daughter makes them fairly often. Also, we still have lots of frickidillers. I'm not sure of the spelling - just meatballs, really, but they are great. When the family first immigrated here, they lived in a sod hut for a year while they built a house. What an interesting life she had. Although interesting may not have been the word her mom would have chosen while taking care of little toddlers in a sod hut.

I like that word.  I think it will come in handy.  I think it can be used as a noun, verb, adjective....etc.  LOL!

Medigal -- Some secret!!!!  Yep, a good word to use instead of....!  With apologies to all our Danish pals, of course!

Frickidiller = noun.  As in, "She's a real frickidiller."

Frickidill = verb.  As in, "Did you see the two of them frickidilling?"

Frickidillish = adjective.  As in, "These ebleskivers are absolutely frickidillish."

lewing:  You paid attention in school!  Who would have thunk it?  I like your use of our new word.  That word needs to be put in Websters so more folks can use it and not get fussed at.  You know there are just times when  everyone needs a good "frickidilling".  I just "love" that word!  I can insult someone and they can't hit me cause they won't know what the heck I am saying to them!

My apologies to all our Danish members (if any).  We just "lika be bad" some days.

Danish Meatballs???  That's not very sexy but if you think about it "real" hard it does contain a word that goes with our new interpretation.  Let's see if Lewing also paid attention to her "street" slang. Ok!  So some of us do have dirty mines but only when posting in "this" group.  You ladies are such a baaaaaaad influence!   

It is even better than the word 'frack' used on Battlestar Galactica.
