Biopsy..Healing....Seeding

I know that this was brought up before. I looked through several pages and didn't see the post for dcis seeding... so I figured it needs to be brought up again.

I've learned that dcis cells are harmless outside the ducts because they do not have an invasive component. But, I've wondered if they did get outside the ducts if they could survive and later develop an invasive component?



I know little of the cancer I have now, except that it does have a invasive component to it. I'm wondering if it can seed between now and the time of the surgery.

I figured the two biopsies that they took last week would heal quickly. Initially, it was just a small bruise and it didn't bother me, but yesterday I noticed that at the 8 O Clock position, the whole bottom to the top of my breast is red, warm and very bruised. The breast has been throbbing. I would call my doctor but she is out of town for a week. I pm a few people and they said this was normal. The other two biopsies I had a few years back did not have these features. If this is normal to a biopsy healing, I'm ok.

I am slightly concerned that with the size of the bruise (broken vessels) that the cancer cells could seed through a near by blood vessel.

    Barry:  Red hot is NEVER good, and should always be checked out.  The throbbing I did have for almost a month, but again never red and hot (that implies to me the potential for infection).  Even if your doc is out of town, she will have a substitute and you should call!  I truly can't comment much on seeding because what I have read is limited and the information suggests that it is possible but that it is quickly distroyed by the body.  But please call about the red hot tissue..     Deirdre, hey, I edited the post...it should say warm not HOT. It's much warmer than the other breast. I just called the breast center and spoke with someone and they said after a week and the injury site has worsen, I should see a doctor. I do not want to take antibiotics again. I wonder if just putting a antibiotic cream on the area would help. I'll try that.

    Good thoughts about our immune system destroying possible stray cells.

    Oh good, but Barry if it does not get better within 24 -48 hours I would get the antibiotics... Sometimes what the body creates (in this case a possible infection) can be SO much worse than any problem resulting from antibiotics.. that said I know you have been on them a great deal and have had some really strong side effects.  I totally understand your avoiding them as long as possible but if it continues you need to protect yourself...     All is better today...using vitamin E & A oil and anti-bacteria cream. So glad I don't have to take antibiotics :)
