BreastDefend and Mushrooms

Options

I'm sorry I was too lazy to attach the article, but if you google BreastDefend you'll find a study that seems to indicate it has potential for prevention.  Has anyone tried this?  It contains Reishi and DIM and turmeric.  I also have been finding a great deal about mushrooms and studies indicating their preventive potential.  I've been trying to eat mushrooms, but I am just completely unable to eat mushrooms every day.  I hate everything about mushrooms.  Does anyone have a great mushroom trick, or better yet a great mushroom supplement?

I've read that common white button mushrooms have some effect as an aromatase inhibitor.  Whether they can prevent breast cancer isn't proven, but observation of populations suggests this is a possibility.

Maitake D extract is one of the most studied mushroom extracts and unlike some other mushrooms, is absorbed.  It has immune boosting properties, alleged anti cancer properties, and lowers blood suger levels in type II diabetics.  Nothing is proven yet in terms of use as a cancer treatment, but it holds some promise and is being studied by Memorial Sloan Kettering.  About the only downside is that it is fairly expensive.

Many of the "medicinal" mushrooms are available in powder and capsules.  Not inexpensive though.

    Laurakay,

I have been taking Breast Defend since my diagnosis with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. I am taking quite a few supplements and I'm grateful to be able to take product that contains a range of the ones I would want to use in such an easy form. If you are struggling with getting Reishi into your system along with the other beneficial components in the blend then Breast Defend is a good option. There is so much that is hard on this journey that having a few things made easier has been a blessing for me.

I wish you health and ease.

My ND put me on Douglas Labs AHCC (a mushroom complex) right before my chemo started and for the duration of it to keep my immune system up.  I'm still on it while going through rads (almost done!) and may or may not continue with it, not sure yet as I would rather do things in moderation (and those pills are really quite pricey).  There are some tinctures by some other companies that I will probably look into to take every so often.  Would love to hear anyone else's experiences as I got through chemo pretty well without any major SE's (will never know if it was the AHCC though, lol, but I would do it again).
