    Does anyone have this - is it worth it?  I have a 27 month old that loves to mimic hubby doing P90X so I thought maybe she could get a kick out of it too.  I thought maybe the Wii fit would be an option for exercise when I wanted to stay in the house during the bad chemo days?  Any recs on exercise programs for Wii fit - I don't know much about it. . . .Is it higher intensity, or lower?

    I Wii Fit daily - I have Wii Fit Plus with the Balance Board.  I've lost a signigicant amount of weight by managing my food intake sensibly and using the Wii Fit.  You can tailor a programme to suit your needs and ability. Good luck with chemo and take it easy - I didn't do much exercise during chemo and rads - just didn't have the energy or the mind for it. A gentle stroll was about as good as I managed until I was finished tx.

    Hi Everyone, I too am a Wii Fit user, I have been for about 1 year now, unfortunately since my diagnosis of breast cancer, I haven't touched it for about a month, just lost interest in my appearance.I am hoping the weight I gained since this all happened will finally give me a kick in the pants, that by the way,are realllllllly tight,so I can feel good about myself again.

    I also have the Wii Fit with balance board and do like it.  You can decide the intensity of the routine.   I like the yoga moves....you have at least one foot on the board so it senses your balance and lets you know if you are out of posture on the move...sort of like a virtual trainer!

    Wii fit is great.  I find I picked and chose which things I did during chemo.  Now I do whatever feels right.  18 lbs off so far... just have to keep going.

    Just got done reading the comments on Wii fit. thinking of buying one,Any more comments. Need to lose about 30 pounds, any other suggestions.  hugs Dianne

    Wii Fit Plus has everything the regular Wii Fit has, plus more.  If you are getting a Wii Fit, get the Wii Fit Plus.  I love mine.

    I love my Wii Fit too.  I have Wii Fit Plus but haven't used it much yet.

    Hi, girls - I have joined the ranks of Wii Fit users!! It had never really appealed to me until recently... I guess I thought "If I want to stand on one foot and see myself doing it, I'll just stand on one foot while looking in a mirror." LOL - but then I decided it would be good to have some kind of motivation to do strength training at home (I always get so bored lifting weights). Plus, I wanted something I can do while I recuperate from my mastectomy as well as a good alternative for those icy cold winter days.

    So I bought a Wii and the EA Sports Active 2. Oh wow! I only tried it for the first time yesterday and I'm in looooove!! It's so much FUN and really keeps up your interest. I actually found myself giggling at times, it was so fun! I like that it gives you the feeling of being in a pretty outdoor setting (I much prefer exercising outdoors, but during the winter, it's not so pretty in Georgia!!). Plus, I can really feel it today (pleasantly sore muscles)! It never did get my heart rate up as much as when I'm running or doing Stairmaster, but that's okay... I got the Wii as a fun alternative exercise, not my main workout.

    Those of you who use other Wii fitness-related games besides Wii Fit Plus, what are your favorites? I really love this EA Active 2 so far, and next I want to try The Biggest Loser or maybe a dance one.

    I just bought it too, it's still in the box.  I was wondering what people thought about it, thanks for posting this.

    Thanks for posting this.  I caught a hint that my DH and mom were thinking of chipping in for a Wii Fit for me for Christmas... now I will "mention" the Wii Fit Plus.  :-)

    The Wii Fit Plus is great.  Unfortunately, I haven't used it in months as I've been recovering from various surgeries, but I'm going to start up again.  It's especially good now that it's getting cold, so I'm not walking outisde as much.

    Oh Good! 

    We bought the Wii Fit (don't know if it is the Plus or not) right before diagnosis.  So it has not even been opened yet.  So it is great to see this thread and read the postive postings.  New Year's resolution already made, now...!

    My have a bit of a frozen shoulder feom my LN dissection in Sept and after a couple of days of the beginners yoga. It has improved a lot. Of course I'm still going to my scheduled PT appt but the improvement is huge. I also do the beginners aerobics. My chemo is pretty rough on me so I find that that is pretty much the only exercise I can do these days.

    I have the Wii-Fit and EA Active as well.  I enjoy both, but found my motivation to work out on a regular basis with them, by myself, just wasn't there.. So, my parents bought me 10 sessions with a personal trainer, to work out a routine that would get me going again.

     I now have a routine: Monday and Wednesday: 10 minutes treadmill, 20 reps of weight training, then 10 mins treadmill, 20 reps weights #2, 10 mins treadmill, 20 reps weights #3   Tues & Thurs: 2 30-minute sessions consisting of Wii-Fit Yoga, Balance & Aerobics. Then finish the week on Friday with a session with the Active exercises - I'm still at the beginner level with most of them.

    I found the variation really helps me stay with it - here's hoping it lasts through the holidays! .  I should  lose about 80 pounds, so this is combined with a diet.  This week's weight loss was 5 pounds, and 2 inches on the waist! Wahoo!

    kwhite, that is a fantastic, aggressive routine, and an AWESOME start to your weight loss!! I totally agree about variety being the key. It's just too boring to do the same thing day after day, plus it's not nearly as effective as cross-training.

    LG300, wow, you've been through a lot of surgeries in such a short amount of time -- hope you're recovering nicely from all that! I was hoping that I could do some of the Wii flexibility stuff and yoga while I recuperate... how long was it before you felt you could ease into that kind of gentle exercise?

    Since I posted, I also bought The Biggest Loser Challenge... holy cow, I love that one! It's the closest thing to having a personal trainer motivating you to make those last few reps or keep going just a few more minutes, and I love the feel of the different settings... really nice to be able to work out in my dreary basement and feel like I'm at an island resort.

    Hi Diane, I too, have to lose about 30 lbs.just haven't found the energy yet. When I did use it, I did at least 1 hr. a day, and I felt great, I sure wish I could get back into it. Need a big push!!

    Caroljl, I think you need a new game! I want to get one called Walk It Out. It sounds lame, until you read all the reviews of it on Amazon. Basically it's a walking "game" where you explore all these different environments. I know it sounds boring but from what everyone says, it's actually really fun and motivating. Some of them say they think about it as they're falling asleep at night and can't wait to get home from work to walk to this game! Since it's low-impact and more of a fun game than the hard-core fitness games, it might be a great way to ease back into exercising.

    I'm soooo not a video game person, but it's amazing to me how buying a fun new fitness game is so hugely motivating.

    Well I bought the Wii now for the fitness part. I have been checking them out on line. I have been wondering about the EA product, good to have some input on that to. Has anyone done the Just Dance video. I was thinking of that also. My biggest concern on the Wii fitness is that some think the board is to small. Any comments. Most of the people that have commented do not have one. I did not know they had yoga on it. That sounds like fun. I have not seen the walking games, where can you check it out. Thanks for all the suggestions. Tomorrow is the day. Dianne

    Stef, as for the board being too small, do you mean too short? For any kind of step aerobics, yes, it's definitely too short on its own (it's barely better than just stepping in place), but Amazon.com sells risers you can use with them. I have an adjustable one that brings it up to about 8". DEFINITELY worth getting.

    I haven't tried any of the walking games in Wii Fit Plus, but I bought "Walk It Out" through Amazon.com. Still loving that one for fun, mindless calorie-burning!

    I like yoga and the balance "game"  My PT recommended Wii Fit .   The clinic has one.

    I'm in - 30 minutes of strength & yoga this morning.  I also bought the riser for the balance board and it absolutely increases the workout intensity and was well worth it.  The Walk It Out game sounds like fun - anyone else have it?

    Agreed about the weigh-in.  I've had mine for almost 2 years, and it's nice to have a 2 year record of (almost) daily weight info. Even when I don't do anything else on the Wii that day, I always drag my butt downstairs to do the weigh-in. Now I can pull the graph out to a wide view covering a year which makes it easy to see patterns of when I've been able to lose a few pounds, and when I tend to find them again.

    OK Wii gals.  Lets check in once a week or so.  It will help keep me motivated.  I am moving mine downstairs, where I will have more room .
