Alpal:  That is odd you think Melissa knows exactly who the deleters are and you state we don't need to turn their names into her.  I think you might want to hold your breath because I finally see light in the Darkness.  Since this is Blue's thread, I will hold my actions until I hear further what Blue wants to do.  But even if this is considered Blue's thread because she named it, I would like to think the thread belongs to all who take part in it and any one of us should have the right to try to save it if we can.  Just my thoughts.  Thank you.

I don't think she knows who they are, I know she knows. It shows up in the software reports. Now if they're reporting posts under new names, she may not know the originators, but she knows the name they are using.

Medigal - just want to make it clear that I don't think Melissa should come on here and tell us the names. I do think the software needs to be changed so that when you report a post a post pops up telling who reported the post. I also think a reporter should have to indicate which BCO rule has been broken to justify reporting the post.

About these brussel sprouts ........ when my mother cooked them, she boiled them on the stove top and they stunk.  When you roast them - do they still smell bad?

Edited to add:  PS no offense to the brussel sprouts intended.

Actually, they don't. Well, maybe just a little - sort of like broccoli. They're yummy!

    Hahahaha molly!

I don't think they stink when roasted.  I've never liked brussels sprouts at all until now, but two things make them taste good (in my opinion);  they have to be fresh, not frozen; and they have to be roasted. Anything else is just icky (*technical culinary term*).

I come back here and now I'm reading about posts being deleted.  Who's post/s?

Yes, I did post the graphic of Palin's "target."  The ones the dems put out were "bulls eyes."  Bob Beckel, a democrat, said this has been going on for years.  And he's a liberal dem.  Here's a little of his bio.

He resumed his career as a political consultant until Walter Mondale asked him to manage his 1984 campaign for the presidency. As national campaign manager, he oversaw the successful race for the Democratic nomination. He holds a B.A. from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York.

One more thing, E -- the smaller (younger) the better!  I like mine sauteed with bacon and chopped onion.  Tried roasted -- didn't like the taste so much.

First time I had them was at a dinner party in England -- horrible, overcooked, puke-green mushy things -- but the Brits (well, some of them anyhow!) love them!

OMG! about floralgal's links.  There is not one Scintilla of Evidence that this was caused by anyone.  Geez!  Drop it for Pete's sake.  Do you not recognize that this conversation is dividing this country even more instead of bringing them together for the good of the victims of the shooting?

Floralgal -  That link is poisonous. Frown Typical ...NYT's/Krugman vitriol.

As of this evening Giffords is still stable - the Drs said each day that she remains stable, is more and more an indication that she will have a chance of recovery. Great news.

Blue - Hope you're feeling better each day too! Hang in there. You've been through alot these past weeks. Best wishes.

Anne, yum, balsamic on roasted brussels!!

Krugman is an idiot IMHO and always has been (even thought so 10+ years ago when I read articles by him before he joined the NYT...AND I was a liberal then...go figure).

Somebody is having a ton of fun at our expense. From now on I will not let my emotions show if I even comment on a deleted post. I think Melissa needs to know how we feel about posts and threads being deleted but saying anything here just seems to feed the beast. On the other hand I'm also sure Melissa doesn't want a looong list of PMs to go thru. Darned if you do , darned if you don't. (changed to darned to keep it clean.)

Edited to say: Now I will get in trouble brussels sprouts cooked any way icky.

Yes, peanut butter.   Let the peanut butter soften  over the sprouts.  Its my favorite way of eating brussel sprouts.

Funny how one person's vitriol is another person's sanity. I respect Krugman highly. And I don't always agree with him. His opinion has been based on research and facts, to ME, anyway. But that's what makes the world go round. Some people love Beck and can't see his vitriol like I do.

All this reminds me of the abortion clinic bombings, where rhetoric incited the action of a few sane men who knew exactly what they were doing. Rhetoric has changed a tiny bit, so thankfully some of the threat has diminished. We'll have to come to that point as a nation regarding our gun and killing rhetoric, too.

Floralgal .. I just now had a chance to read the Krugman article.  I thought it was well written.

I copied a para from the article:

"It's important to be clear here about the nature of our sickness. It's not a general lack of "civility," the favorite term of pundits who want to wish away fundamental policy disagreements. Politeness may be a virtue, but there's a big difference between bad manners and calls, explicit or implicit, for violence; insults aren't the same as incitement.

The point is that there's room in a democracy for people who ridicule and denounce those who disagree with them; there isn't any place for eliminationist rhetoric, for suggestions that those on the other side of a debate must be removed from that debate by whatever means necessary."

Krugman wasn't targeting the left or the right in his article .. just stating his opinion.

I agree with him .. there is a difference between bad manners and calls for implicit or explicit violence.

Both sides are guilty of carrying bad manners too far into the realm of incitement.

My grandson thinks that brussell sprouts fresh from the market are good raw -just peel off the leaves one by one. I let him have them all.

Surely Shirley noticed in the Krugman article (it was near the end) that his point is that it is time for a dial back in the discussion. Maybe you got stuck at the part where he mentioned Glenn Beck in tones that were not adoring.

    BinVA,

Sounds like that's what happens here with the deletes. Someone who disagrees, wants to remove the ones he/she disagrees with.

Sharon50 - If you've read some of these posts, we don't know that much about politics either. Smile (just kidding, some are actually very well informed) I just say how I feel and ask questions.

I saw a guy cook brussel sprouts on the Food channel. He cooked bacon in a saute pan, removed the bacon, added fresh chopped garlic, salt, pepper, scallions, butter and the sprouts. Cooked them only a few minutes. He made a pocket out of aluminum foil (heavy weight) placed the sprouts inside, closed the foil around them tightly. Cooked them in the oven for about 20 or 30 minutes. He then crumbled the bacon back into the saute, added a little white wine and more butter. When the sprouts came out of the oven he put them back into the saute, reduced the liquid a little and plated. People were coming to the restaurant to "eat brussel sprouts". Looked mighty good!
