okay, mjb, i will share mine as i always enjoy reading yours....

these are the thoughts that i put together right after my diagnosis, one year ago today, and have continued to read and heed since:

I am willing to release the pattern of consciousness that created cancer.
I now discover how wonderful i am. I choose to love and enjoy myself.
I am in the process of healing.
    I am a survivor.

I choose to view the cancer that was in my body as a teacher and a wake-up call in my life and take responsibility for my health.

I allow my body to return to its natural, vibrant health. The past is over, so it has no power now. The thoughts of this moment create my future. I do not want to carry the past. I am ready to be healed. I am willing to forgive. All is well. I am healing.

All of the changes in life that lie before me are positive ones. I am safe.

My mission, should i choose to accept it, is to live a long healthy life, to be a friend to my friends for years to come, and to love my family as they get older and babies are born into it, and to tell stories when I am very old and gray about how I beat breast cancer.

    Thankful,truly I am....

"Dying is a wild night and a new road."..Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson was present to the process of her dying when she said these words.
She seemed to be fully with herself and, at the same time, open to what would come. When we think of our own death, most of us hope that we can be open to the moment.
All too often, the idea of dying and the experience of slowly killing ourselves through overwork is something with which we have become comfortable. It is the living of our lives at each moment that terrifies us and that we seek to avoid.
Luckily,we can get through this terror and come to know that we have all the caring support we need to live our lives.

    we discover powers within ourselves

we may have never known —

The power to make sacrifices, to endure,

    "The Big 'C'"
    by Kathy Cawthon, Survivor
    copyright 1997

“The big ‘C’” I heard someone call it.
    Another just whispered the word.
That we don’t even dare to say “cancer” out loud
Gives it power it doesn’t deserve.

So I’m giving that letter new meaning
And refusing to give in to fear.
I’m reclaiming the power for you and for me
By saying these words loud and clear:

Let the "c" be for “cure” and “compassion”.
Let it stand for the “candles” we light
And a “chorus” of voices shouting “You 'can'!”
To all who will take up this fight.

Let the "c" be for “cash contribution”.
“Credit” or “check” will work, too!
Let it stand for “commitment” and “check-ups” and “cheer”
And the “children” “counting” on you.

Let it mean that we know our “Creator”
Is beside us each step of the way,
And remind us to “call” on His strength and His love
And to “celebrate” every new day.

    To everyone facing this “challenge”,
I say it’s a fight we can win.
Tell all who will listen that, starting today,
The "c” is for “COURAGE”, my friend.

    On the mountains of truth

Often a man gets in a position
    where he wants to run,
but there is no place to run to.

    So he goes ahead
with the only course open to him,
and people call that courage ```John Rockefeller Jr.

    "What is real?
Generally, by the time you are REAL
most of your hair has been loved off,
    and your eyes drop out,
and you get loose in the joints and very shabby.

But these things don't matter at all,
    because once you are REAL,
    you can't be ugly
except to people who don't understand....but once you are REAL you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always."
passage from The Velveteen Rabbit by margery williams
