    I hate to interrupt the prayers but I just saw the original post in this thread from a couple of years ago.  It reminded me of an experience I had early in this process.  Some of my worst days were before I was actually diagnosed.  I had an ultrasound that confirmed my lump was not a cyst and a biopsy was ordered.  I completely freaked out and cried for three straight days. I ended up begging for a biopsy earlier than scheduled because I could not stand the worrying that long.  They were able to get me in the same day that I called for an earlier appointment, which meant I had to go without my mom who lives in another state.   

    I was fine until a nurse came up to me in the waiting room and told me she was the one who made them work me in because she could tell from my message how upset I was.  A woman was sitting next to me and overheard the conversation.  She thought I was upset about having to do a mammogram (I was getting my first one ever right before the biopsy) and commented on how easy they are.  I busted out crying about the fact that I was not scared of the mammo but of the solid lump that I already knew was there.  I told her I wished my mom was there, still bawling (hard to believe I am 40. . . lol).  She hugged me, told me she would be my mom for the day, and said a prayer.  She was a cancer survivor and her cancer brought her "a lightness" in her life that she never had before.  She prayed for that for me, if it turned out to be cancer, which it did.  

    Now, in all honesty, I have not found any lightness.  It has, to the contrary, been devastating and terrifying like nothing I have ever known before.  However, for that day, I was completely calm and at peace for the first time since the biopsy was ordered.  

    The really weird thing to me was that her name was the same as my deceased grandmother's, which is not a terribly common name.
