DEFINE 2 Week Rule

Options

I see a lot of people talking about the "2 week rule".   I had my ovaries out in October of 2010 and it slammed me head first into surgical menopause.  HELLO WALL I JUST SLAMMED INTO!!!!!  Ever since then I've had this pain in my hip.  It's like I can stretch to the side and feel it pulling.  I'm thinking it's a muscle.  What EXACTLY is the 2 week rule?  I've had this pain for about 2 months but it comes and goes.  The pain isn't constant at all.  On the weekends when I'm relaxing I don't even notice it.  However, if I'm at work and sitting in my desk chair and get up....HELLO MOMMA I feel that what I describe as muscle pain again.

If it was "bone pain" it certainly wouldn't hurt when I stretched it out would it?   Just trying to lock down if I need to panic now or later.   lol

I know what you mean about the on and off pain.  I have that with my lower back.  I think, maybe I should have it checked out, I feel the worst pain when I stand too long.  I have had that off and on for years.  I agree, what are others' input regarding the 2 week rule?

    Jess:

I have a similar thing as you post - standing too long or walking around shopping all day - my lower back will start to ache - but only under those circustances.  I will take an aleve or even just sit for a few hours and it goes away - this is an example of what my onc said is just normal pain for ME.  In regard to your description of yours - I can assure you that having it off and on  for years would certainly not be a cancerous situation.  My onc said if it is steady for two solid weeks - enough to be bothersome or worrisome, she wants to know about it and will evaluate as to whether she feels a scan or futher testing is necessary.

She also reminded me that while some gals don't always have the same symptoms from a specific recurrence, any cancer will always worsen - it does not get better over time - ever.  So if in two weeks you are worsening or there has been no easing of the situation - you need to have it checked out.  Even then, in all probability, it will not be cancer related, but that is where we have to bring it to the doctors attention.
