I have had a mark on my breast (areola) since August.  It is quite faint, flat, under the skin.  I dont have any heat, rash, swelling or pain.  I am just worried as it has been there for 4 months now, however has not gotten an worse.  Has anyone ever experienced this?

Please see your doctor right away ... don't put it off any longer! Why suffer the stress of worrying when you can know for sure that all's well? And, if it isn't, then you can get treated right away. Please don't put this off, okay?

I have seen my doctor as well as a dermatologist.  They have been monitoring it and both think that it looks much better, can barly see it.  My dermatologist said that if I feel more comfortable they he will do a biopsy in Feb.  Did you have these symptoms?

THANK YOU for seeing your doctors! Do you think you'll get the biopsy?

My symptoms were much more pronounced: large (and traveling) red area, dry skin, warmth, a little swelling, and that orange-peel texture specific to IBC. I'm very glad for you that both your doctors aren't concerned. My best wishes to you for a worry-free New Year!

Thank you for your concern.  If I have any mark come Feb I will get the biopsy, today I cant see anything there.  The mark is quite faint and not real red, more brownish in colour.  Since I noticed the mark I have been at my drs about IBC, they both keep telling me that if was IBC it would be getting worse not better.  However, it is something that is always in the back of my head and regardless of what this is has made we more aware of this disease and better educated.

I think it is unlikely to be IBC if you have had it so long and it isn't progressing.  My doctor told me they call IBC the "wildfire cancer" because when it starts it just takes off fast like a wildfire does.

Gracefarm, I just couldn't sleep tonight with the worry--I just joined here yesterday--and saw your post, I also have this mark--itches like mad and have had it for a few months now--no other symtoms such as swelling etc--am hoping that the Dr will be open tomorrow and that I am able to get in QUICK--I was told it looked like an age spot--when the skin cancer Dr checked it--but age spots don't itch in my past experience.

I hope yours turn out to be fine. Good luck

Yes - that is what mine mos resembles.  Mine doesnt itch, not sore, not swollen, nothing!  The dermatologis told me that it most resembles dermatitis, however, no itch.  What did your Dr say?

    Good luck.
