    Kimber,

Don't know why I didn't see this earlier.  Wanted to let you know I'm with the rest on pulling for good results.  It sounds good since they are so slow about the follow up with you.  I agree with Kerry slow news is usually good news with doctors.  That's the theory so you'd better prove me right!!!!

Well, the slow news is good news theory held true this time.  The scan was negative - woohoo!!  I didn't realize how much tension I was carrying waiting for it, until when the call came and it just melted off.  Thanks all - you really made the wait far more tolerable.

Kimber--such good news! You know, I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I had had weird sensations too in my rib cage and had a bone scan in November. After it was done I was asked to sit in the waiting area for the results! I waited about 10 minutes, and the technician came out to tell me everything was negative, that a radiologist had looked at my bone scan, found a few areas of arthritis in my neck and compared it to an earlier bone scan. Same thing happens when I go to the same hospital for mammograms. I never appreciated this policy until I realized how agonizing your wait was.Pleased for you...

I have also had weird pains in my right ribs. This has gone on for over 4 months now. I have had ct scan, pet scan, ultra sound, colonoscopy, liver function HIDA nuclear scan and now MRI coming up next week. They can't seem to find out the source of this pain! It feels so much like when I was in chemo and my liver enzymes were high but now liver enzymes test as normal. Has anyone else had this feeling like ,yeah, I should be happy that all these tests are negative but why the heck does the pain continue? My oncologist just tells me no test is 100%. They all reveal different things. My mammo and ultrasound showed nothing 2 years ago but the mri of my breast revealed lobular breast cancer. Understandably I wonder if they are missing something. I had a lump for 2 years where they finally discovered my bc but not until they did the right test! Has anyone else had this happen to them? What do you do when they say your results are negative but pain continues? Second opinion? Wait and see if gets worse or goes away? It makes me crazy some days.

I was finally able to sleep soundly through the night last night!

Weesa - I'm going to need the name of the hospital where they send you if I ever have to go again!

Kimber, I finally remembered what I think I have that gives me odd rib cage sensations from time to time. I think I have inflammation from trauma (radiation, surgery) called Costochronditis or possibly a related disorder, Tietze syndrome. It really does fool me from time to time thinking it's gotta be mets.I think a fair number of women who have been treated for bc have this.

I go to a small 220 bed local hospital, which has its pluses and its minuses. I always blame them for missing my breast cancer for ten long years thru ten annual mammograms. But they always tell me test results that day. I also had a chest xray the same day as the bone scan and I got that result 3 hourrs later, which is about as long as I have ever needed to wait. Maybe I get special treatment because they are afraid of my wrath. You are probably better off...but it always amazes me when I read posts here about the long wait.

Enjoy another good nights sleep! Hugs, Weesa

Great news Kimber!   Did the bone scan show up any arthritis?  I was surprised when my scan showed up arthritis I never knew I had!

I'll have to ask about the arthritis.  The only information I got on the phone the other day was that it was negative.  I was so relieved I didn't even think to ask anything else.  I'm sure my onc will discuss it in more detail at my next appointment in 2 weeks.

I have been following you through the silence of my iPad (grrr..hopefully we can use them here soon!)

I was SO SO happy to hear the negative result! I was right there with you!!

I had a scare too..my hip was hurting terribly for weeks...and of course your mind races!  SO I got the mri...and it was negative as well. I had to laugh when you said you weren't sure what your doctor said other than "negative". I actually had some kind of torn ligaments in my buns from kickbox classes (yeah, I know...shoulda figured)...and they wanted me to go see another specialist. I dont even remember what they said...all I heard was "ITS NOT CANCER". I think I will just stay away from kickboxing and doctors for a little while.
