10 years ago at Christmas....

Gabrielle, your story is inspiring. It reminds me of something someone said to me years ago when I was trying to get into veterinary school in my 40s. I wondered about the length of my career. They said, "You can be 50 and be a vet, or your can be 50 and continue along another path. The choice is yours."
I never made it into vet school but I've carried that philosophy through this current journey. I can live another 10-20 years in fear, or I can live every moment as if the sun is perpetually beaming down on my face. I choose the latter.

Thanks to all who posted on my Dec 2010 update! I intend to come back in Dec '11 to update again.

I agree we need to provide hope to one another. The loss of hope and a possible future is devestating.

Hello Gabrielle, Looks a bit chilly out there in PA. I remember the hope your post last December brought to us all. Thank you for coming back this year with the good news of another year of health. Congratulations on earning your degree, and best of luck with your dissertation. You are right, keeping hope alive is very, very important. Sounds like you're goin' strong. I'll look forward to next year's update. Hugs, G.
