Thanks Jewly!!!

O.k. ladies my surgery is tomorrow and this will be my last post for a few days most likely. Take care and say a prayer for me. I have to admit I am getting a little case of the nerves. More worried about pain issues that the surgery itself. Hoping I am feeling well enough by Christmas Eve to finish up my shopping with major help from my mom or my hubby. I have to get my son something for his b'day.
not waiting till the last minute but I don't get paid till Thursday.
Renee
-
I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. Hope all goes well.
(((((HUGS!)))))
Valerie
-
Renee,,,hope you got through your surgery with great results...Will be checking back, hoping to see how good you are feeling.....Hope you get to do your shopping, Jewly
-
Hi Ladies, I'm home and made it through surgery o.k. I had to stay overnight in the hospital, not my favorite thing to do! It was somewhat painful but not as bad as I thought it would be.
The doctor came in this morning and took the bandages off and I got to see them... Not to bad even swollen with stitches and steri-strips. Taking some good pain meds that are keeping me a little woozy. I'll talk more later.
Renee
-
Its good to hear from you. Glad everything went well.
Valerie
-
Yay, Renee, so glad to hear that you got through surgery okay and you're home! AND that things look pretty good even so early. Your Christmas present! What kind of reconstruction did you have?
Hope the drugs work great and you feel all better really soon,
Bonnie
-
Bonnie I had a lift and reduction on the left breast (non radiation side) and a lift and correction on the right breast (the rads side). The radiation and partial mastectomy had pulled my right breast and aerola to where it was pointing outward towards my arm instead of straight ahead, it had also reduced me from about a DD to about a full B cup bra or a small C depending on the bra you buy. Hence the reduction and lift on the left.
I had a lollipop reduction - google it!!
Renee
-
Renee, sounds like your surgery went well, hoping you felt like finishing your shopping, but don't rush into things...It's time to rest and heal....
Wishing all a very Healthy Merry Christmas and many many more to come....Jewly
-
To all my rads sister/friends I hope this has been the most blessed day of the year for you. Enjoy and Glory to God in highest! I am so thankful to call you all my friends and for all the support that each of you have lent to me over the last year as we have held each others hands through happy and difficult times."
From my home to yours...

Happy New Year to all my sisters from the 2009 Rads Group!!!! I hope 2011 is the best year ever
Renee
-
Thanks, Renee! Happy New Year to you, as well!
How are you feeling now? It's been what, 10 days or so since your recon surgery.
Bonnie
-
Hey Bonnie, I thought all of you had desserted me.
It's been 12 days since my surgery. I am feeling better. I am still sore and my incisions are still a little red and irritated, especially the one that runs under my left breast ( it is a short T ). I also had a couple of the stitches on the outside of that T towards my left underarm pull apart. I tried to steri-strip them which is what the doctors office told me to do, but the strips wouldn't stay on.
Oh well it looks as though the incision is trying to heal anyway (yeah!!). I go back to the doctor on Monday afternoon and if all is well I will go back to work on Tuesday. I know I can't do anything but paper work but frankly I am bored to death sitting at home on my bottom. Let's face it... there is only so much t.v. that one person can watch. I can't clean, wash clothes, or lift anything heavy (more than 5 lbs for 4 more wks), so I can't vacuum, I am bored!! I know that when I am back at work I will be ready to be off again in a few weeks but thats o.k. I can always take a day off.
Renee

Happy Happy New Year to all.....What a whirlwind that month of December, tired of keeping my house so clean, finally no plans and can let my house get back to it's normal messy self!!....The weather has finally went from the 30's, 40's to reaching the high 70's and the sunshine feels so good, I may take a beach walk today, been slacking!!!..........Not been good on my anti-cancer diet either, so bye bye to all those Holiday goodies, hello to less meat, lots fruits and veges....
Renee be very careful not to overdo at work, sometimes others just don't get it and expect you to do more than you should..Hopefully after you heal, this will be the last of operations for you..
Bonnie and all, I still come back to check out any news on our group and hoping we all continue to get positive results from all our follow-up reports....I believe my next appt is end or Feb......Best to all.......Jewly
-
Jewly so nice to hear from you. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas. I agree about all the holiday goodies... way too many! hahaha!! I did hear that it had warmed nicely in FL yesterday and was up in the 70's. I watched Alabama whoop the pants off of Michigan in the Capitol One Bowl. I think it's time for me as well to get back to trying to diet and change my lifestyle a little that is definitely part of my goal for the new year. My doctor wants me to have a bone density scan but I'm not sure that I am going to have it done. My deductible was paid for this past year but definitely won't have been met for 2011 and I'm not going to be stuck with a bill and because I am still quite young I think I'm gonna tell him I'm not having it done.
-
To all, I really need to get back to my healthier way of life...I haven't walked on beach since November...Going to drag my DH over there this weekend, the weather has finally improved...
Renee, how are you healing from last surgery?,,,Hope all is good....
To All......I can't seem to upload my images from PhotoBucket anymore...Is there another photo site that I can use???
-
Jewly having some healing problems with the incisions opeinig up where they took the stitches out (one side still has stitches) and I'm still a little sore but otherwise I am good. The scars are not very pretty right now but I hope they get better with time and scar treatment. I am staying hopeful. One side looks much better than the other. I have gone back work but I'm still limited as to what I can do. No heavy lifting greater than 5 lbs. but that's o.k. too. Glad it's nice in FL we are gearing up for a possible winter storm here and some frigid weather. Go for that walk and stay warm and sunny!!
-
Be very careful Renee with that lifting and stuff, after over a year, my left (lump) side is finally not so sore, it took a long long time for me to heal......It is really pretty here today, I always have a brighter outlook with sunny weather......
-
Hi Everyone!
Renee, how are you feeling? Are you back at work? How are the incisions?
Jewly: Good luck with the exercising and eating right. You've been our inspiration! You have to stay strong! PS. I don't know anything about PhotoBuckets.
Veggy: What's happening with you? Happy New Year and hope you're feeling a lot better.
To All: On Friday I'm having surgery on my spine. I'm nervous, but not as much as I was a couple of weeks ago. It is apparently not that big a deal, and I'll be only one night in the hospital. I think no lifting for a couple of weeks. Just the remote, right Renee!? I have a cyst in my lumbar spine, and it will be removed in the same kind of micro surgery as they do for herniated disks. This cyst is pressing on my spinal cord and nerves going down my left leg. It all started Labor Day Weekend. Let me tell you, ouch! Wish me luck!
Bonnie
-
Bonnie - I'll be thinking and praying for you on Friday. Sending some hugs too. Please let us know how you are.
I have an appointment with the chemo doctor February 8th for a checkup. Today my son with Asperger's asked if I have any more appointments with those doctors. I had to tell him yes and they will be watching me for a long time. He asked why and I had to tell him incase the cancer comes back. He got a look on his face that said to me, "I thought it was all over." And then he changed the subject. I made him hug me.
We got a lot of snow last night and more on ther way today. I guess I'll be staying home today.
Miss hearing from all you ladies.
Valerie
-
Bonnie, best to you Friday, bet you can't wait to get rid of that pain, hoping all goes great...Just relax and keep the remote close by....I can't wait for the weather to stay warmer so I can get back to my regular beach walks..
Renee, how's the healing going, be careful lifting, my sister is a nurse and always been expected to lift people 3 or 4 times her size, don't over do it!!
Valerie, those are some good looking boys you have there, my son just turned 20 in December, my best gift this year was what he wrote on my Christmas card..I can't believe how fast he has went from my little boy to the big boy he is now....I can't quite say "the man he is now", although I am so proud of who he has grown into......
Well is it down to just the 4 of us, I don't blog as much as I use to, except for our group, however, I do put my 2 cents in sometimes to other topics when I think I can input useful info for someone.....Take care all and don't desert me!!!
-
My surgery Friday was a success! I can tell the "thing" in my spine is gone, and the shooting pains down my left leg are gone! The surgery incision hurts quite a bit, but that's nothing compared to the pains I've had since September. I can't drive for SIX WEEKS and can't even ride in a car for two weeks, but I don't mind if it means I'll heal up strong and sound. Can't lift anything more than 5 lbs, like you Renee. It hurts to lie down, so that's a bummer. But really, I can't complain because I'm going to get back to normal!!! YAY!!
Hope everyone is well!
Bonnie
-
YAY!!! Glad to hear your surgery was successful! Now make sure you take it easy.
((((((gentle hugs!)))))
Valerie
-
Yah Bonnie!!! Sending you gentle healing hugs
... glad you are on the mend!
Veggy I have to agree with Jewly... good looking boys (or should I say young men) indeed!
A good friend of mine has a son with Asperger's he function's quite well and even has a girlfriend and a job. He is also about to graduate high school. How does your son do? by the way her son is a cutie patootie as well... must be in the water. LOL! You actually are very attractive so I'm sure they get it from their mom? Right??!! Heehee...dad's never have anything to do with it! wink wink! I love to tease my husband about that.
Otherwise I am so glad to hear all of you are doing so well. I go back to the PS tomorrow and will get the last of my stitches out of my right breast. Had them out of the left 2 wks ago. I am so ready!! They are definitely healing and very itchy. I am using scar ointment to help flatten and heal the scars and decrease the look of them. Hopefully make them where they are barely visible. My hubby will be having surgery most likely this week for a 100% carotid artery blockage. Keep him in your prayers. I will come on an update you as soon as I get the chance. Sharing a computer with my daughter is getting more difficult and I haven't even been on for the last week.
Hugs to you all
Renee
-
Renee - I sent you a private message.
You and your hubby are in my thoughts.
(((((HUGS)))))
-
Bonnie, glad to hear you are on the other side of surgery and on the way to getting rid of all that pain...Take it very easy....No driving or riding in a car, if the freeways in San Fran are anything like San Diego, well I would welcome that!!....On my recent trip when we drove from Vegas to San Diego, I was a horrible passenger, not used to so many lanes of traffic...Made my DH drive back to Vegas via the desert and on a very remote two-lane (did not want to get back on the 15/215), but worth it and the view of mountains and desert was awesome....Here in Merritt Island, everywhere I go is about 5 minutes away and no freeways...
Valerie, be careful in all that snow and ice....Hope you get good weather soon...
Renee, sounds like you are having some good results also...Sorry your DH is having surgery soon, seems in the last couple of years, I know so many people that have had the carotid surgery, what in the world is going on??...100% blockage, that's scary, wishing him the best....Keep us posted as much as you can......My friend that had the surgery changed her diet drastically, now she's pratically a vegetarian....I'm going to get back to my serious diet change and also add more veges and fruits, I just read that lowering your cholesterol also helps lower your chances of recurrence...
Here is a great website for all....I found it yesterday when it was mentioned by another member and there is so much infor for all of us on this site....Check it out, I was on the site for hours and will be on there today also....www.foodforbreastcancer.org

More snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.
I am so ready for spring!
-
I'm ready for summer... I don't like Spring too much Veggy cause of all the bad storms and rain we get here in Alabama. I like it other than that. LOL! If we could discard tornadoes and hurricanes, thunderstorms, etc I would be a happy person. So I love winter and summer the extremes because we have no storms during that time. I also love to go to the beach and the races and the ideal time for that is summer.
-
I would love winter if the snow would stay off of the roads and if it was so cold. I think tonight they are saying its dropping down to 4 degrees.I have never spent a day at the beach. I would love to. I have been to Atlantic City, but I don't count it as a day at the beach...too many little shops off of the board walk.
(((((hugs)))))
Valerie
-
Renee, I know you and your dh like to go to the races (Daytona, etc)..I have to tell you what my dh is doing today, we are driving to New Smryna Raceway (just under Daytona) and he and my brother-in-law have signed up to drive real race cars for 15 laps....It's called "DriveTech Racing School", if your hubby would ever be interested.....How is your dh, did he have his surgery yet?.....Hope all goes well...Jewly
Edited a day later to say, my dh loved this, can't believe they let you drive these things on a real track and as fast as you are willing to push it!...There was one crash in the group before, they make you pay $60. extra for car crash insurance, but if you do crash it is a $1000. deductible!..Felt sorry for the guy, but at least he did not get hurt.....
