Tribute for flying

Hi all -- I'm taking my first plane trip since my LE diagnosis a year and a half ago. Despite many attempts, I have yet to find a glove (including 4 customs) that is a great fit.  I don't know how to wrap (saw it done once, but never did it), so that is not an option.  I love my nighttime Solaris, so my plan is to wear it on the plane.  Has anyone done this?

I gather it is important to not take the compression off for any reason during the flight or soon after.  How many hours before theflight should I switch from my day garments to the Tribute?  How many hours after the flight before I switch from the Solaris to the day garment.  Thanks KS1

KS1--I've worn my Solaris for flying. I put it on after screening and before boarding, and the fitter had told me to put a short stretch bandage over it--which I don't usually do.

I tend to pull it off on the way to baggage, and put on glove/sleeve--just because it's hard to manage baggage with it on, ideally I should wear it for an hour after landing.

After this fracture--it's set my LE in my hand back--not terrible, but I'm holding fluid around the metacarpals, so I'm back to gloves again--and it actually feels better to wear a glove when I'm not in my splint.

I've worn the Solaris on 4 flights--the longest was around 4 hours, and each time it's worked well. In September I had to fly two times in a short period, and no problem.

    Have a great flight.

I like to sit at a window seat with my left arm next to the window, so I can move it around--my left is my effected arm.

Just my experience, and it's worked well.

    Have a great trip.

I've flown 4 times (2 round trips) since LE.  All were long trips involving plane changes and delays, etc.  I wore Tribute sleeve the first 3 times and day sleeve and gauntlet the last time.  It doesn't matter when you put your flight gear on - do whatever you find most comfortable and manageable.  Keep it on for about an hour after you land.  I have to admit, I removed my sleeves for a few minutes during the layovers - just had to "breathe."  Everything was okay.  I had no problem wearing sleeves through security - I was prepared to take them off but was never asked to.   Bon voyage!

KS, you also need to think about your arm while you're packing and hefting all your luggage around your bedroom (not to mention jerking it down off the closet shelf or wherever it's stored). Wear something on hand and arm for that activity, or any unusual activity that will tax muscles in a way you don't ordinarily use them. Some therapists theorize that packing is as much a cause of travel-related flares as the trip itself.

Happy travels! Let us know how it goes,
    Binney
