scalp mets

Options

Has anyone out there has experience with scalp mets? I am in need of any information including the appearance of your mets, treatments recommended by your oncologist, and what if anything, got rid of them. I just went to my dermatologist to have a bump rmoved form the back of my scalp and they did a biopsy. The prelim pathology states that it is a "solid mass" and the doctor called me to say they believed it was most likely a breast cancer metastisis. They are sending the report to my oncologist, and I would like to have some info before I talk to her. I am stage 4 currently on Faslodex, been through chemo and Xeloda. Can anyone help me out with this?

hey there!  i just saw your post.  i usually just look in the stage IV section.  i had scalp mets too when i was diagnosed stage IV on Feb 12, 2010.   I had been complaining about a bump on my forehead last year but i also had sinus problems too so the doctors assumed it was just sinus issues.  when i had other bone mets pop up, they finally did scans and saw all the mets. i had radiation to my forehead along with other areas.  it was not the best experience in the world to be bolted down to the radiation table with a mask on my face.  but it worked and the mets on my scalp went away - or at least i am not feeling them or having any pain.  please let me know if you have any questions.  good luck in your treatments!

those are skin mets - you may find it helpful to search that term.  apparently the scalp is a common place to get skin mets, which i find really surprising.  sometimes some tx works on mets elsewhere but not on the skin mets, or vice versa.
