mets 2 years after original bc

Options

I had a lumpectomy in 11/08, 6 rounds of chemo tch & herceptin for one year.  I've had a cough for a couple months & after chest x-ray, ct scan & brochoscopy it was confirmed that my BC was back in my trachea & lung.  I went today for a consult for a clinical trial & had a PET scan & brain MRI. My onc just called to tell me the brain MRI showed a very tiny spot & that should be watched & I'm not eligible for the clinical trial because of it. She said that the standard of care would work better because it gets to the brain also.  I am so scared I don't know what to do.  I'm trying to stay positive but it's so hard.  I need some success stories PLEASE! The onc told me to discontinue my arimidex because it isn't working & my ER/PR+ was very low to begin with & now is showing negative!  This site helped me so much before so I'm reaching out to you all again!  Gail

Gail, so sorry you are going through this. You are allowed to scream and yell and express yourself. There's still a lot that can be done so remain optimistic. We are here for you

Gail, I'm so sorry for your bad news.  Does your oncologist have another plan for you since you can't be on the trial?

    Sending (((Hugs))).

Gail, I'm so sorry to hear this news. I know how you feel - when I got the news i was Stage IV I felt lilke the bottom had fallen out of my world.

There are a lot of ladies on the Stage IV forum with similar stats to yours - if you go there, you'll find a lot of good info and loads of support. And, yes, lots of success stories too.

    Sending love.

    Leah
