Hi Nancy, Great news about the chemo response, couldn't be better! Sometimes short hair can feel pretty good after having it long. Lots of good news. G.
-
Nancy,
Such great news about the tumors shrinking! There isn't much that can be considered satsifying with a cancer diagnosis but I think that watching the tumors shrink before your eyes with neoadjuvant chemo might just be the only thing! I hope that news makes tolerating the chemo side effects easier.
-
Nance, Great news about the tumors shrinking after only one treatment. Hope your weekend will be relaxing for you.
-
Yay Nancy!!!!
Nice to see that chemo working, isn't it?
-
Hi Friends,
Hubby shaved my head last night. Feels terrible and gets stuck on the pillow, hoodies, etc. Should I lather it up and shave it close? I feel like I lost myself and can't seem to get back together. Cancer sucks, Chemo Sucks and Bald sucks.....ok...done venting for now. Hope you're all doing well.
Love,
Nancy
-
Nancy,
I agree with all the above!
I shaved my head really close and always kept a soft cotton cap on. Check ou this website: http://www.softhats.com/. Now that it's winter, I wear a warmer hat outside but I find these are perfect when I'm at home.
I hope that your day gets brighter.

o no nancy! we know how terrible it is... shave it close! it was my 16th birthday when mine started to fall out... i felt like i was never going to get out of it. but you do! and eight months later i have finally come out of the tunnel. i too felt as though i lost myself and couldnt help but look at pictures when i was 'healthy'. but we are all here for you so you can vent as much as you want! in one year, you can look back and be happy you kicked cancers ass! you look so pretty and proud in your picture! keep that smile on

I hope it's okay to post this in Nancy's thread.
Erin,
I know that you've heard this before but OMG 16 is too young to be dealing with breast cancer. You sound so confident and encouraging in your post. I am in awe of you.

Dear Erin, Thank you for your words of encouragement. It just doesn't seem fair at all that you had to fight this beast at such a young age. My daughter is 23 and I worry about her facing this someday. You are a remarkable young lady.
Take care,
Nancy

Tis the season to go about in a warm cap. I remember living in one kind of cap or another, couldn't get used to that drafty head. I drank a lot of hot chocolate, too. Hope you are doing O.K. Hugs. G.

Hi Sherri,
Thanks for checking in on me. I had a pretty good day today. I was able to go to work and last all day. My son and his wife went to dinner with me and hubby. I'm thankful for this good day and hope tomorrow will be a repeat. How are you doing? Are you ready for Christmas?
Take care,
Nancy
-
Hi Nancy, It's good to hear you are doing so well. Take good care of yourself.
-
Hi Nancy -
I'm so sorry to read of your recurrence, but I have to say, you have one heck of a surgeon to have such a keen eye to have caught this. I didn't know we should go back to our surgeons to look at our mammograms.
I just wanted to also mention that the Oncotype score measures the likelihood of a distance recurrence (mets) rather than a local recurrence. So I don't think the test failed you or you have to beat yourself up about not having done chemo in the first place.
I went through chemo last year at the holidays and during the winter, and it is a little isolating to be indoors all that time, but I just huddled up with a bunch of movies and tv and got through it. I hope all goes well for you.
Anyway - no need to concern yourself - just concentrate on being good to yourself. Pamper yourself like crazy, and I hope you do well.
-
Awe....you ladies always make me feel so happy to read your posts. I feel like we have a true sistership on this board. Thanks for all of the encouragement. I'm watching "White Christmas" with my dogs and my husband. Life is still good:)
Love,
Nancy

Nancy,
so glad to hear you are doing well.
I have been googling and looking for more tamoxifen info ever since you posted you were on it and had local recurrence.
I found this article and not sure if it will speak to anything for you, but thought I'd post.

Hi Sherri,
Yes, i have another one on Wednesday. This will be my 3rd one. I'm hoping they get easier as time goes on. I'm able to work today and probably tomorrow but then I seem to get knocked out for a week. Is that the way it worked with you? Thank goodness the company I work for is so nice. They just tell me to come in when I can and not to sweat it if I can't. I've worked here since I was 19 and now I'm 54. My how time flies.
Thank you so much for thinking of me.
Take care,
Nancy
-
Hi Nancy! Best wishes to you on Wednesday...warm hugs to you!
-
Hey, Nancy. I just want to tell you that my mom had two diagnosis. One in 1965 and the next in 1975 and she lived until 2008, age 98. Big hugs. She said, "you have to just relax and let them do their work". I think she knew something and it helped her through many "hard knocks." And it helps the rest of us.
-
Nancy, Good luck with the SE's on Wednesday.
-
Hi Nancy, Hope you felt us with you today, we were all there. Warm, caring hugs going out to you. G.
-
Hi Friends,
Yes.....I could feel you guys there with me today:) It took 3 hours this time and I really don't know why it changes so often. I only have one more AC before I switch to Taxotere for 12 weeks. I'm glad I don't get anymore until after Christmas so I hope to feel pretty good on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I can enjoy my family. I did all my shopping online this year and I think I may do that from this day forward. No lines, no driving on icy roads and so far everything arrives within 5 days. Thanks for checking in one me.
Take care,
Nancy
-
That's great that you're 75% done with AC! I hope that you continue to feel good this week.
-
3 hours, yipes!! Glad you are home and snug. The weather looks exceedingly cold. Online shopping is the way to go. Glad you knew we were there. G.
-
My joints are killing me!! The last neulasta shot on Thursday did me in. I've taken hot baths, vicodin and aleve but nothing is helping. Any suggestions from my friends? It's mostly in my knees and legs this time. The first time it was my lower back. Appreciate any advise you have.
Nancy
-
Nancy, I read on the chemo thread some found claratin helpful. I had so much pain from the neulasta shot, and had planned to at least try the claratin, but never had the second treatmnent so never tried it.
By the way I see you live in Mendota IL. My inlaws lived there during the 90's. It is such a lovely little town.
-
Nancy, you might want to ask for Neupogen instead of Neulasta. I found Neopogen much easier to tolerate.
-
Nancy, I don't know what to suggest. I'm sorry you are in pain with the Neulasta. I hope someone can suggest something soon. G.
-
Nancy,
I also had horrible pain with Neulasta.Claritin was like a wonder drug, significantly lessening the pain! I also found that using the heating pad helped. The pain was much worse during AC then Taxol. I hope that you find that to be true too.
