Pomegranate juice may help prevent breast cancer metastasis

Speaking of which, has anyone had any trouble juicing pomegranates? I juiced two today and they tasted HORRIBLE! Was I supposed to take the skins off first?
-
I love Pomegranate! It is high in Vitamin C, potassium, polyphenols, etc. and very healthy in general. Juicing is the easiest form to consume it and Im not sure what you mean with taking the skins off first, sdstarfish? Usually you cut the pomegranata in two halfes and then squeeze each one in the juicer. Or if you do it in a mixer you spoon out all those kernels out and into the mixer (they look like corn). You can probably use the white stuff too. I usually just eat the kernels - so good! But its kind of tedious to fork/spoon them out one by one, around all that white stuff..

here's a tip i learned from alton brown's show for seed removal- cut a pomegranate and remove the kernals from the white flesh over a bowl of water, the seeds will drop to the bottom, the white part will float to the top. To get the juice, put the kernals in a blender then strain to get the little hard seeds out.
-
I also found a good way to loosen the kernels - cut the top of the pomegranate off (the little stem thing) - then use a sharp knife and score the pomegranate by cutting slices from top to bottom, but without going all the way through the bottom - sort of how you might cut an orange. Be careful because juice does leak out of the bottom while you're slicing. Put about 6 nice long cuts into the the fruit, then soak it in cold water for about 15 minutes, Then pull the pieces apart over the cold water and get the fruit out, it is easier after soaking. Just let the little kernels drop into the water bowl, like imatthew said, the fruit will sink into the water. When you are ready to drain, you can just tilt the bowl and all of the water will come out and the fruit will stay in the bottom. I've been enjoying a nice bowl of pomegranate and blueberries in the morning, quick way to get two superfruits. I also sprinkle them on my salad along with some sliced almonds.

Does that great tasting V8 Fusion pomegranate/blueberry juice count? I drink that every day and it is delicious and no fruits to squeeze!
-
carpediem, Thanks for the advice on how to use them. I bought some a while back, and then had no idea how to get anything other than the seeds out of them.
-
Medigal, I hope it counts, I love that juice, so yummy! :-)
-
The "seeds" should be as nutritious as the juice, right? The article just says "juice" ??

does anyone know how pomegranate compares to Acia juice. I just bought some and I noticed on the label that there are 3 different types of Omega's listed. I thought Acia was good for you, but I know not all Omegas are
