    Yay, Michele!!!  Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About taking meds for sleep, I take Xanax at night.  I was using it and Wellbutrin before BC to help with depression and anxiety (I've dealt with this junk off and on since I was 14), and getting cancer sure didn't help with my anxiety levels.  I echo susan:  "If I don't take it, I don't sleep."  I've since switched from Wellbutrin to Effexor since the former interferes with Tamoxifen,

Getting back to toenails, I'm still having a lot of pain in both big toes.  Didn't someone here see a doctor about that?  I want to say it was Cheryl, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, I'd appreciate anything you guys have to say about this.  I'm guessing there's still Taxol pain, but I think I also have ingrown nails?!  Not sure what it is, but it surely does hurt.

    Have a great weekend, Furies!

I saw the doctor for my mess of a toenails and she just gave me drops for the infection. It went away and now I just have super ugly toenails that look like I have never cleaned. I have and do clean them they are just gray-blackish color.

    wohooooo Michele!!!!

Thanks Jamie- my hats are my new wigs this time around ... I just can't seem to get myself to wear one yet... I still have "some" hair for now anyway so putting a hat on is just so much more comfortable.

Has anyone had trouble with neuropathy?  I escaped it with the Taxotere but the stuff I am on now is doing a number on my fingers being numb...

Artemis, if you have had Taxol it definitely messes with your toenails/fingernails.

Elaine:  I had a bad time with ingrown toenails (never ever had this before chemo/nail issues).  It does hurt...it's better now, but I have to keep an eye on it.  Awesome news on being NED!!!

Michele:  I'm so sorry you went through all that, ugh, you poor thing, I can't imagine how that must've made you feel...and am soooo glad it looks like it was scar tissue, and that your TM's were good : )

Sue:  I took a B6 vitamin and L-glutamine to help with neuropathy...I think I needed to take a bigger dose, though, I still got neuropathy, but not too bad.  I like the hat, you look good : )

Hubby got the job in Miami, so I've been spending hours and hours online trying to find him a rental unit down there in our price range (dirt cheap, lol).  Today he also got a job offer in California, go figure.  Hurricanes or earthquakes, hmmm....

Jaimie:  hey girl : )  Yes, he took the job in Miami, and he left on Saturday.  He should get down there this morning.  I woke up to a chilly 33 degrees, and he woke up to 68 degrees....I must say I am jealous!!!  Glad to here your appt went well....I know what you mean about 'hoping it stays that way'...lately--maybe because I will be alone more now--I have had those 'voices' in my head again.

I think it is time for me to demand some scans.  I always chicken out and don't ask for them, but it's been 2 yrs now since I've had a PET, do you guys think this is the scan to get if you're only going to get one scan?  I mean, I'd like one scan to see everything I'm worried about..lungs, liver, bones...will a PET do that all at one time?

Judy~ I am happy to hear that your DH got a job but sad he is so far away.

So I have 6 days until I leave for Florida and I am excited.  I do have to get thru Saturday first though.  I have a Wedding on Saturday which should be fun but it is just getting dark fast around here.

I have been busy and loving it.  I love my job so it makes things easy it's the business side that I am not so fond of.  I hate discussing $ with people.

Hello everyone. Checking in and hoping it's a very happy Thanksgiving next week for you and yours.

I made a decision today and fired my orthpedist. I'm seeing a new one next week who I hope will fix the knee. Such a painful day today. The knee and then the wrists and hands. Don't know what's worse - carpal tunnel or the neuropathy.

Saw the onco last wek and she has me headed for the neurologist to see if there is anything to be done with the neuropathy. Then on to occupational therapy.  I just keep falling and injuring myself.

I asgree on the PET scan. Wish I could get one, but they're hard to get due to the cost. Then again there's that nuke 'em till they glow angle!

    Cheers!

Nancy:   I'm so sorry you are in so much pain : (  I hope your new doctors can get you feeling better.

Jaimie:  hope you're enjoying Florida....I know hubby is, lol.

I finally asked for some scans today, and I am scheduled for a bone scan and CT in December.  Now I am nervous, no wonder I put this off for so long.  I also have a heart stress test next month.  I just want to figure out why I am so exhausted and short of breath every day.  I kinda wish I hadn't scheduled it all before Christmas, but may as well just get it all over with.

So I had my tatoo's done on Friday and there was a newspaper report there and they asked if they could take some pictures.  I said yes after they told me that they would be discret pictures....Discret my backside. :(  I am not happy, it was front page of this newspaper.  I have had 2 people recognize me which I do not care if any awareness stuff was put in it but it WASN'T....grrr...

I am so regretting it......I told them I would if they mentioned that women had options and that free flap was one of them....NOTHING...blah,blah, blah...how I was counting down until this day....blah, blah, blah....

Oh, Jaimie, I am so, so sorry. I can imagine how upsetting that must be for you. What arses to do that to you. See if you can get them to publish an apology, that is unacceptable.

Try not to let it runin your enjoyment of having your tattoo's done, and everything looking lovely!

    ((((HUGS))))

Thanks Kerry :)  I am just so happy to be done I think I am going to concentrate on that.  It's not bad until people contact me to tell me that they saw it.  I may have to go back and get them a little darker but they are AWESOME.

no...Kerry, it was really, really, really stupid.   I took in another dog.  I volunteer for a rescue group and heard that there were several healthy dogs "out of time" at the county pound.  This is the same pound where I testified regarding inhumane euthanasias a couple of years ago.  (They needed a vet to state what the research community requires regarding humane euthanasia.)  Anywhoo, what was going on there was just terrible.  *That* was some time ago and I'm assuming (hoping) that things are better now but.... Well, I went there on Saturday just to *look* and was haunted by the dogs that were going to be killed.  I ended up taking one home.  I need another dog like I need a hole in the head... (We have 5 cats... all rescues and now 3 dogs...) This, and I'm OCD about mopping floors, etc. Ugh, ugh, ugh.  DH is furious. (He is not a "pet person"! LOL!)  But, the dog is happy (and alive!).

Anyone want a dog?  I deliver! LOL!

Oh. I would so do that Michele. I couldn't be a Vet, I would bring home every dog anyone ever bought in to be put down. I hope you find another home for him, one dog is enough for anyone. I hear you on the dog hair too.

And it wasn't stupid, it was very compassionate! I thought you had had an affair or something! LOL!

Oh Michele that's not stupid...that was a WONDERFUL and kind thing for you to do Embarassed  Huge hugs to you and of course he is happy, he is alive thanks to you!!!  Now find him a new home and be proud of what you did.  Your DH will get over it.  It's just one the qualities that we love about you, so don't change it.

Kerry~ I have 3 dogs....lol....and growing up we had 6 at one point.

    Hi everyone : )

Jaimie, shame on that newspaper, really....glad you're happy with your tattoo results...did it hurt?

Michele:  aw, what's one more dog?  lol, my hubby wasn't happy when i allowed my daughter to bring dog #4 into the house, but he got over it...You saved that dog's life, you are a very special person for doing that : )

Hi Kerry, you have snow now, huh?  We have somehow managed NO snow as of yet, but it is darned cold out there.  brrrrrr

Nothing exciting here...getting used to not having my husband around though.  It was weird at first, but now it's not so strange anymore.  He calls me sooo many times a day, lol, I think he's rather lonely down there.

Michele, I could sue a couple of warm dogs snuggling up to me right now. Is'nt that where the term "three dog night" came from? It's FREEZING here in DC!

Jamie, glad the tats are looking good! Focus on the good and less on the bad.

Surgery for reconstruction of my ACL is scheduled for Dec. 28, so here comes another post-surgery New Years Eve. BC surgery 2 yer anniversary will be this NY Eve.

I also will be seeing a neurologist next week for the neuropathy. Has anyone else seen a neuro? Just curious of what to expect. The good news is the lungs, etc. are doing well with the sarcoidosis and I don't need to see the pulmonologist for a year. Yeah!

Hi Nancy...no, I haven't seen a neuro doc, my neuropathy cleared up months ago, although it is strange because just my big toes have been numb/tingly again over the last couple of weeks.  I can't find any info on neuropathy going away and then coming back, so I'm not sure what that's all about.  Glad to hear that your lungs are good, sorry to hear about your surgery....is this a tough surgery to recover from?  It sounds like it may be : (

Judy, sorry to hear about the tingling. Maybe it's just a temporary thing. I haven't found any good ideas for coping.

I saw the neurologist today. Fasting blood work tomorrow and an EMG on the 27th. I hear the EMG is very painful, but can't be as bad as the feeling I'm being constantly poked with a cattle prod - whatever that means. LOL!  She says I should have been over the neuropathy by now, but with all of my falls and injuries, I just haven't been able to catch a break. From the sound of it, I will do occupational therapy to learn how not to fall. A cane was suggested. I've fought it, but may have to give in after this surgery.

Nancy- I had ACL surgery years ago (like 1995) and recovered completely.  I'm very active now and have no residual issues.  It *was* a painful procedure but more acute and certainly not as bad as chemo.  xxoo
