Tamoxifen
I just saw my surgeon with the results of my second surgery in a year. With much relief it is B9 but it was more ADH. My surgeon would not feel comfortable with a less then six month Mri since my ADH is so severe. I have made the decision to take the Tamoxifen. At least give it a fair try. I smoke and of course have to stop NOW. I've been wanting to for years so this gives me the best reason ever. I don't want to worry about getting a blood clot for the next five years while I'm on this. And of course all the other things to worry about because I smoke. Just would like to know if anyone has tried the Ecig to stop smoking. It doesn't have any carcinogens in it but it does have nicotine. From what I'm reading you can slowly lower the nicotine until your just smoking without it. I have read many good things about the success rate using the ecig. I researching the best one. I am excited about this and feel I can stop smoking using this method. Any please have experience or know someone who is trying to quit using ecigs?

Pattimay,
I don't smoke so I am not sure about the ecig. But, I too have been diagnosed with ADH six months ago and I am due for my first follow up mammo on Wed. 12/15. After my last biopsy with the ADH dx my BS recommended Tamoxifen for me. I ultimately made the decision to not take it due to the fact that I would have problems with my endometriosis and I was having knee surgery and didn't need the added risk of blood clots with that. I am wondering if I should give the Tamox a shot though if everything comes out clean this week. I am interested in if you have started taking it yet and how it is working for you. Post on here or you can send me a personal message at gomelissa@msn.com.

Pattimay,You said it yourself, now is the best reason to STOP. I was a smoker till 10 years ago. I needed surgery on my shoulder and I know that the healing would be better if I wasn't smoking. I stopped cold turkey. It wasn't easy, I had smoked for 30 years! I'm almost ashamed to say that now. Forget about the ecigs. It's still nicotine going into your body and I don't know what else, even though they say it's water vapor. What I did do was go to the newspaper stand in town and buy a pack of candy cigarettes. Whenever I felt the urge to smoke i had one. Then i switched to tootsie roll pops. The daytime urges lasted about 2 weeks but i will say that I dreamt of smoking for about 6 months. i was always so happy when i woke up to fing that it was only a dream.I also felt so much better when I woke up.Good luck with the Tamoxifin. I have LCIS and both my oncologist and I decided that due to my past history of a pulmonary embolism ,I would go for strict monitoring. So far so good.
