edited June 2014 in Lymphedema

Shopping at the local mall, I was picking out slacks at the "Cache" store when the clerk came up to me and said "I love your glove, where did you get it?"

I recently found black sleeves and gloves (Juzo) and like them better. And now it appears they look like trendy fashion.Cool

That's awesome! I had a similar experience at the gym the other day - I was getting dressed after swimming and pulled my sleeve on - a young (20-ish) girl came over and asked if I was wearing a compression sleeve. I told her yes, and she said, "That's awesome." LOLOLOL, I about died... I didn't even have on a cute one - it was just the regular boring tan Jobst off the shelf. I told her NO, that I HAVE to wear it because of lymphedema and it really isn't all that awesome, but I was glad she thought so. LOL   Well, I guess we can thank the NBA for making compression sleeves "in"!

I didn't know that about the NBA!!  LOL    My hubby just said "yeah, they get hit in the arm so much they need to prevent swelling."  Who knew??Laughing

I've also had older ladies ask where to get them, they want them to wear while knitting and stuff.

That's great news, and isn't it nice to get encouragement even from strangers, when sometimes those close just don't get it? (Rant alert:) I have a elderly running buddy who thinks it's fine to grab my swollen shoulder and squeeze hard to encourage me in the "fight", despite being asked several times not to, including ouches and backing away, when he finally got offended. Well I don''t grab him by the balls just because he is surviving prostate cancer....  must remember the tip about NBA!

Nordy I wonder if the girl at the pool already knew someone else with BC&LE, but was too shy to get embroiled in the "So you had Cancer too" Discussion. Kind of her to say it though.
