Binney had always told me that Elizabeth Edwards had lymphedema, and today, when I heard that she is doing poorly, I found where she told People Magazine about it--although the article associates it with numbness

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,1540826,00.html

She said: I knew when I had the (five cancerous) lymph nodes removed that I might be subject to lymphedema. After cancer, this isn't bad.

Then I found an article that she's published a goodbye statement

She is a brave woman, IMO, for admitting in People Magazine that she had lymphedema, when, as we know, it can be a stigma.

Wishing her peace.

(While looking this up, and trying to figure out her surgeon--which I think was in Boston, but couldn't find for sure, it said on Medscape that she tried AI's--her tumor was mildly hormone receptor positive, but couldn't tolerate them. What a rough road.)

I just had to add this--as we've been discussing if it's "healthy" to stay on the boards: from a WebMD interview she gave:

As she dealt with her breast cancer, Edwards also turned to online support groups -- mostly as a self-described "lurker" who could stay anonymous, rather than having to reveal herself. "Any kind of celebrity throws the group off, throws the dynamic off, and it's not fair to people," Edwards says. "They have their own needs, and I have to be really conscious of that."
