Did anyone else have Abraxane?  I had 4 A/C (2 weeks apart) and then I had 12 weekly Abraxane treatments.  I just read from the San Antonio Symposium that Abraxane is usually used to treat metastatic TN BC.  I'm glad I got it now.   Anyone else?

    Hi Tabatha,

I am currently being treated with Abraxane.  I first did neo-adjuvant therapy in a clinical trial with Gem-Carb/Parp.  I had growth of tumor on that treatment so it was stopped and I had surgery.  I then did  dose dense AC-Taxol.  Durning my first two treatments with Taxol I had severe allergic reactions and was switched to Abraxane.  Yes, it is approved to treat metastatic TNBC.  My oncologist has been very positive about the "opportunity" to use Abraxane in my treatment plan and says he thinks Abraxane will replace Taxol in the next five years because it seems to be more effective.  So, I too am glad to be getting Abraxane.  I just had my 3rd weekly treatment of Abraxane today.  7 more to go!

My onc only uses it if you are allergic to the Taxol.  Insurance usually will not pay for it unless you are, so you are lucky.  It is comparable to the taxanes, it's just carried in an albumin base and not the - can't remember the name - something like creosin - that the taxanes are in, which is the reason why some folks can't handle the taxanes.  I have heard all great things about abraxane.

DDG, that's what my oncologist said.  That research was showing that it is better than Taxol.  I'm all for that.

I'm on Abraxane too. In Australia they only give in to stage 4 patients. I've had 4 so far with 8 more to go. I can barely feel the tumor in my neck anymore so yay! My SE's have been very minimal. Most of my head hair is gone. I get lots of pains at night but that's about it....
