Christmas Shoe Song -- not for the sentimental!
I just had to share this story -- I find it so funny!
My boys have been obsessed with the Christmas Shoes song for a couple of years, but I have always HATED it. Why? Let's see..
...I mean, like who wouldn't give a few bucks to a kid who is trying to buy shoes for his mom who is dying? It's not like this is some sort of "life lesson" or "do-goodie" thing. It all seems kind of obvious to me.
...maybe it's because I live in New York, but if some kid is asking me for money to buy shoes for his mom, I am going to assume that he is scamming me and is going to buy cigarettes or something.
...when the day comes that I am on my deathbed, I sure as hell don't want a pair of shoes!!!
Lol! Anyway, as soon as my kids picked up on how much I hate the song, they would run for the radio and turn it up full blast whenever the song would come on. They would sing it to me at the top of their lungs until I would bury my face in the couch with my hands over my ears, shouting for them to TURN IT OFF!! The we all laugh hysterically.
The funny thing is, they so don't get the irony of it all this year, and still play this game with me, totally clueless... God, I love them!!![]()

LOL, I hate that song too! Just heard it today in the car, and was thinking how awful it was!!

Arrrrgh, I hate that song! So, usually when my son and I are in the car, I will turn it up really loud and yodel in my best off country voice.
-
ohhh Sherri...you asked for it. Here is the link to copy/paste.

LOL, I know the song and how depressing is that??? It's not even believable. Well, after hearing the song when it came out a year or 2 ago, I was flipping thru the channels on TV on the "Lifetime" channel. There was a movie about it. OMG I watched the movie. Pathetic or what???

LOL! I am afraid to watch the movie... what if my boys see it? Then they will want to watch it over and over just like they did with How to Train Your Dragon!!
Barb: How bad (or good) was it?!

Jkootoo, actually the movie was pretty entertaining, and I liked it that Kimberly Williams was the ailing mother. But I got the impression that her illness was due to congestive heart failure; Here's the website for the movie Amazon.com: The Christmas Shoes: Rob Lowe, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Max Morr

Hadn't heard it, so thanks for the link. DH just asked if I really needed to play the whole thing to decide how gorppy it was.

I use to love the song and the movie....but I couldn't bring myself to watch it this year when it came on. Never thought about it being somebody trying to get money. I guess I am small town girl that believes in stuff all to easily.

The sad thing about it is it actually base on a true story.
