Diane, it sounds wonderful! Congratulations to you!
Yesterday we cycled for almost 2 hours and today I did weights at the gym (almost back to where I was now) and we walked 2 miles really fast (~30 minutes). This may not be as fast as Deanna! I think of that as I am huffing along! Amazing!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Hi ALL!! I've been MIA lately! New smart phones I am trying to figure out, and after 4 trips back to Sprint and them re-booting my phone another time, I will figure this sucker out!
I was off work the last 2 days so each day I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. So sore! Again, seriously slacking on the "real" exercise, but house is clean! Did I mentioned I cleaned? haha...looking forward to being off 4 days and giving thanks (cool insert above Spring!) and I plan on exercising!! oh...I did do yoga after cleaning yesterday...
Diane, congrats on the walk, I'm sure that was physically and emotionally draining. Received a group email from the other gal I know that did that walk. Truly inspiring!!!
I'm a bad bad girl. My work all met for lunch today at some dive bar...I was starving and ate a cheeseburger and fries! UGH!!!!!!!!!
-
I got my port out yesterday, it was taken out in a procedure room at my surgeon's office. I did not appreciate being awake for that. However I'm glad it's out! One more step back to feeling normal. Needless to say I've been walking and not doing to much on the upper body weights until my body heals from the port coming out.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
-
Stacy - I bet you will feel better now that the port is out! I know I did... good for you on the WALKING!
Today my daughters came home from college. One came with DH and I on a bike ride on the city greenway. It was gorgeous outside! She loved it. I think tomorrow will be a day off, or a leisurely walk!
-
Big CONGRATS!!! to Diane! What an accomplishment!
YaY!!! for getting your port out, Stacy!!! As you said, that's one more huge step towards healing and rebuilding.
Love the graphic, Spring!
We all have so much to be thankful for!!! Here's to family, friends, health and abundance! Happy Thanksgiving! Deanna

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

Just popping in to say Happy Thanksgiving!!
-
Stacy congratulations!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I was very good, no pie or anything. I get to go to Zumba this morning, looking forward to it. I didn't go for a couple of weeks because I was afraid something could happen to my feet, ankle and didn't want to press my luck before my walk. After that, Christmas is coming out. I already have my dishes unpacked and ready to use, next is the vast quantities of other stuff.
Happy Black Friday everyone.
-
4.4 mile walk today! I did have pie on Thanksgiving, I tried a bit of everyone! But I didn't pig totally out. That is a success!
-
Ainm, how great you look in that picture, so good to hear from you.
Made a great spinach salad tonight for dinner (no bacon!) had to make up for the last couple of days.
Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving
-
Anim, GOOD GIRL!! (on the no bacon!)
-
Had a great visit with my son. He cooked the turkey, green bean casarole, and we had fresh brocolli from a friend's garden. He even did the dishes. I didn't have to do anything. The trip just takes so long waiting for the ferrys. Only 70 miles and 3 hours on the ferrys. But it is so worth it. Dd even played on the beach and went swimming. So I had a wet soggy dog in the truck with me. She was happy. On Thanksgiving didn't wear a coat and Michael left the door open because it was so warm till 5 am. Today I have my heat on. Got a lot of walking in and it felt good.
Welcome Stacy. Diane- glad to hear that the walk went great. Ainm -good to see ya. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Now to get ready for Santa.
-
Glad you had such a nice Thanksgiving, Joy! I hope everyone else did, too!
I ate too much (of course). Nothing really bad -- just much more food than I usually eat. I walked a total of 10.6 miles last week (3 days), and 4.7 miles today. So, hopefully, the net effect won't be too bad! One thing I have noticed now that it's cooling off here (in the high 30s last night!) is how dry, wrinkled and flaky my skin is. OMG -- it's like I've suddenly aged 20 years! The lack of estrogen is really starting to take a serious toll on my skin. Does anyone have any tips? I could really use some help!
Diane, we're going to be in Las Vegas next week. Don't know if I'll have any free time with all the rels there, or if you'll maybe have any errands around The Strip, but I'll PM you my phone number in case you have any reason to be near there next week, and maybe we can meet for coffee or a walk. It would be fun if it might possibly work out! Deanna

Dry skin......and especially in the winter months! More than a year ago I started using only coconut oil on every single part of my body after my morning shower. I use no other creams or lotions. Now, not only have several friends requested the secret of moist looking skin, but my husband has started using it too. There must be something to it as I am 70. Maybe it is coincidence, maybe not.
-
Barbara, thank you for telling me about coconut oil. There's another BCO member who has always been extremely pro coconut oil, so with 2 strong recommendations, I guess I'll pick some up and try it. I've never needed any body moisturizer (just facial), and never liked the way they feel. But this alligator skin is calling for some serious therapy! Deanna
-
Deanna I should be around next week. Where are you staying? I live near the south strip, Mandalay Bay....
I hear ya about the dry skin, I also feel I have aged these past weeks. I constantly put lotion on my hands when I am in the car.
Happy Wednesday!
-
Yesterday I did the weight training and then one hour on the stationary bike at they gym while I read a book. It said 15+ miles, but that seems a bit high to me! I think the counter is off!
I don't have the dry skin yet. I bet it is coming! The coconut oil, does it leave your skin greasy afterwards?
Happy Weds! What Diane said!
-
I've had a few body issues lately. Back to the chiro tomorrow after work to get this figured out! But I have done some walking, yoga and stretching, but not much, gotta get body back on track first.
Deanna, I've always lotioned up after my showers but I still notice dry skin in the cold weather, I think I may try coconut oil too at some point. I also wonder if it leaves you greasy, I wouldn't like that.
Joy, you sound like you had a good time with your son! That's wonderful!
Diane and Deanna, I hope you can meet up!
Hi all!!

Springtime, I put the coconut oil on and spend the next five to six minutes undressed until it soaks into my skin. It is amazing how quickly that happens and how soft, but not oily, the skin feels. I massage it very heavily into my breasts as it contains lauric acid which is fatty acid vital to your body. I threw away all other creams and lotions and use this exclusively as a moisturizer. I use unrefined coconut for skin care but have used refined because that is what I cook with.....(separate jars). I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you try it.
-
Silver, where do you buy it? Coconut oil that is...
Yoga tonight! .... It was hard at times, but I could do most of it!!
-
Another product which works great is Aveda's Beatifying Composition. This is primarily jojoba oil. I actually am using it during my rad and even my doc is amazed at how great my skin looks. Same thing as Barbara said, put it on and let is soak in for a few minutes. I used on my scalp and all over.
-
Springtime, I purchased a jar of it at our local health food store but I have seen it at Trader Joe's Market (perhaps you have one near you.) When it is below 76% outside, the oil is white and looks similar to Crisco. Once you scoop some into your hand it begins to melt into this lovely oil. In the summer it is most often a clear liquid. As I said before I use the refined to cook with as it is one of the most stable oils, it does not become rancid for at least a year or more (some think you can usually use the same jar for over two years.) I do not refrigerate it, no need to. Unless you believe the current lipid hypothesis that coconut oil is unhealthy to consume, you may find it an added benefit to use it in your cooking also. Google coconut oil and many web sites come up with lots of information. I have not been successful in using it on my hair, although I have read that others find it works for them. It is a joy to spend the winter not itching. Let me know how it works for you.
-
Silver, I have a Trader Joes. Is this in the soap/shampoo area, or elsewhere in the store? Thanks!
Stacy, I have an appt at Aveda institute Saturday for hair cut (this is where they train students). I will look for Beautifying Composition. Lotion? Body lotion?
-
Springtime, I found it in the section with cooking oils. Perhaps it would also be in the lotion/soap/body cream aisle too. Hope it works for you as well as it does for me. If you try it, let me know why you do or don't like it.
-
Springtime,
It's an oil. If you like lotions the Hydrating Lotion is another great all over lotion. Enjoy your hair cut!

Happy weekend everyone! It should be a beautiful December day in Vegas. I am walking 9 miles this morning and then making pounds of homemade pasta for my gift bags. Looking forward to using my new, Christmas gift to self, KitchenAide stand mixer. I have promised myself that I will make lots of healthy stuff with it. Heres hoping.
-
You go Diane! 9 miles, wow.
It snowed in Raleigh NC today! 2 inches! Very exciting. everything looks very pretty and like a winter wonderland. I did weights today and then had to do a lot of walking with a friend to get somewhere she wanted to go, and it was ccccooold outside!
My DH is out of town so I am "dejunking" while he is away, (he is a pack rat!) this is very physical! Maybe that counts as some exercise... ha!
-
9 miles? Makes my feet hurt just hearing about it. I've been dealing with pec muscle problems and LE so it is making the upper body work hard. Keeping at it however. The new doc is helping with the neuropathy pain so I'm up and on my feet so much more it is amazing. Still hurts, but, I can do a lot more each day before I get to that point. I'm liking the stability ball. Adds a little variety in to the workouts and I use it all the time instead of a desk chair. Just love the thought that I'm burning a few more calories doing something I have to do anyway

Tiny bit of personal trivia - When I started my Wii Fit this morning it told me that I hadn't missed a day in 63 weeks !!! That would be thanks to this thread!! All the motivation I got when I started off on my fitness and weight loss journey was wonderful and although I don't post here often now I never forget that support and I never forget......... the 10 min rule!!!
Hope everyone is doing well.
-
Ainm, you really are my inspiration on my weight loss journey. 25% of the way to this years goal
