I'm not sure if this is the place to post this topic or not but here it goes.I am almost two years out from priginal dx. Completed right mx, chemo and on tamoxifen. I am turning 50 next month and I am looking for something to challenge me more. Maybe I am turning fifty and looking to be fearless.

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone here has participated in dragon boat racing. I understand that there are BC teams all over the world that do it.

I would love to hear from you and your experience with it. Is it challenging? Too challenging? What was your fitness level when you started? Anything else I should know before I commit to trying it?

    Thanks

use the search function at the top right of the discussion forum page and search dragon boat. You will find references to many postings on dragon boats and specifically canadian.

I found dragon boating last year and this past summer we raced in Peterborough Ontario at the International Breast Cancer Dragonboat Festival. My team ranges in age from about 45 to 80. For some of us getting into/out of the boat is a challenge!!  There are MANY bc in Canada, you are fortunate!

I think there are many different types of teams and some teams field several crews - which differ in competitiveness and expectations, giving paddlers with a range of fitness and skill levels, the opportunity to participate.  I am sure you can find a dragon boat team that is a good fit for you.

    Paddles Up!
