Pain after exercise?

Hi all -

I decided to ask this on the exercise board since I think that may be what caused it.....
I have been trying to run and exercise through my last few treatments, which have been taxol.  I've felt up to it and it's been do-able.

However, I had taxol 10 days ago (my last one!) and went running on Saturday.  Did a lot of arm stretches this time and lots of arm motion.  But I think I've always done that before too!

Sunday I noticed when I touched my left rib cage it hurt - like a burn.  Pressing on it really hurts.  It hurts all around, from the bump on the front of my rib cage back to my shoulder blade but only when touched or stretched!  It's not an "ow" kind of muscle pull like when you hurt your neck or back, but it's a feeling of being extremely bruised; again, only when touched or stretched and it hurts to massage it.  I don't see any swelling.

I'm kind of worried about it.  Has anyone else had this kind of weird burning pain in their chest, ribs, back, shoulder blader or arm on the mastecomy side after exercising?  Is it nerve pain aggravated by a bad stretch that I did?  I wonder why now?  My surgery was in July....

I had a lumpectomy, but started having the exact pain you described almost exactly 6 months after I finished my Tx.  My surgical onco. said it's not uncommon for pain to show up this long after surgery.

When it started initially, the pain wasn't related to exercise (I wasn't working out at all then), but when I started working out with a trainer about 1 1/2 months ago, pain got much worse  and spread into armpit and back around to shoulder blade -- haven't been able to tolerate a bra at all since then.  Very minimal swelling, but pain didn't improve, so 2 weeks ago I was sent to a PT who dx truncal lymphedema.  Since then I have read somewhere (probably here!!!) about at least 2 women who had truncal LE brought on by exercise or PT.  Something to consider.

     Hope your pain gets better!!
