Gee, I can tell which end of the spectrum that poster is!  Thanksgiving is such a bigger deal in the US than Canada.  It's not tied into the kick-off for Christmas and not as stressful.  It's pretty well just a nice day off to celebrate the harvest.

Sorry you're not feeling well.  I do agree with the sense of humour -- gotta laugh or you end up crying is my philosophy.  Lots of hugs,

    Elizabeth

    Hugs back at you, KK!!!

I am usually more likely to be at the other end than this one, although thanks to Tamoxifen, my year has been truly horrible because I have been bouncing up and down like mad (the "like" is redundant). Now, having decided to risk mets and ditch the Tamoxifen, I have settled into some sort of mud pie of the psyche. It is all so unexpected - every single time, you are not prepared for it; it is as though it was the first time. You know what to do, but the feelings are there, as though your brain had not learned to do away with what doesn't please you.

Here's to my brain, and here's to your arguably better functioning liver (clink of wine glasses - or shall we make that gin and tonic!)

I love that 'mud pie of the psyche'!  I'm 'allergic' to crazy situations.  The holidays just seem to bring the craziness out.

I'm glad I'm working Thanksgiving.  Keeps me distracted and away from family-both immediate and distant. They are my fellow nutcases.

It feels so good to laugh at myself.   You're not alone.

Glad to give you all a laugh. Leaf, working through Thanksgiving sounds like a GREAT idea!

Funny - the best therapy of all in the virtual world has been to simply post on BCO about topics that have nothing to do with my illness, and continue with the great professional care I am lucky to have in the "real" world. Like a person with a physical illness who enjoys grapes and chocolate in a hospital room, I am enjoying controversial threads and healthy nonsense while I attempt to convalesce. Thank you, everyone.

I'm really glad I worked through Thanksgiving.  Yes, I ate waaay too much.  I keep on posting here because the people here 'tell it like it is'.

There's nothing like great professional care.  Especially for those of us (me included) who have mental issues as well as physical ones. Thinking of you and so glad you are here.

leaf, thank you for your kind words. Good mental health care is so hard to find - even if you are willing to pay out of pocket. I am lucky to have a superb psychiatrist, but it hasn't always been that way, and it costs an arm and a leg. I hope you have good care too.

Yes, its really important to find good people.  I stuck with my first therapist for some 25 years.  While I'm sure I wouldn't be where I am today (in a positive sense) without her, but she was also completely blind to some of my problems (as was I. I also chose to stay with her for another 20 years or so.)

I'm glad I have a different therapist now, and, while I probably never will be symptom-free, at least I'm better than I was in 2006 when I thought I was going looney-tunes.  (I have a PTSD-like syndrome.)

I am glad I can always work on being a kinder, better person that I want to become.  Some people don't choose that path, or don't have that opportunity.
