wish me luck
So I am off to have new films done (surgeon wants her own films of the .5mm thing they found on my "good "side") for the excisional biopsy in 10 days.
Rationally, I know these are just repeat films, they are only looking for that spot, since the rest of my mammo was clear two weeks ago. I am just trying to wrap my head around all of this.
I think I have accepted that even though everyone thinks this is nothing, including my surgeon who I adore, that it is still possible that it is something. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for the fact that it is the opposite breast, that it is so teeny tiny, that I am followed so closely, that I have good health insurance, that I have a wonderful surgeon and that it will be taken out soon and we will know one way or another.
I figure I won't get pathology results much before 12/ 20 or so.... and it will be whatever it is. If it is indeed something, I am hopeful that the treatment would be minimal.... not sure I could do chemo again.....
I think I am just preparing for the worst.... I know that is crazy, but that seems to be my M.O. with these things....
anyway, onto the hospital
Happy Thanksgiving to all

Good luck and lots of good thoughts coming your way! I think lots of us automatically come to the worst case scenario first and when it's not that bad you will be even more relieved! I'm only on the waiting list for a BS consult so i'm not dx with anything but i saw your post and wanted to offer my good thought for you!

well
had a whole new mammogram and another ultrasound-- this thing is so small almost no one can see it.... but, all the pre-op work is done-they will use an ultrasound to guide the needle loc--- should be easier than trying to do it with a mammogram--- I ordered the films on the way out--- adding to my extensive radiology collection...
so, two full mammograms in two weeks--- I feel under VERY high surveillance!!!
happy thanksgiving

I'm glad that's over for you - it's good they can see it on ultrasound. That was the problem the other day with me - they can't see the clips on ultrasound and couldn't get me positioned well enough to use the mammo.
I just got all of my admission info in the mail and have completed everything online - so now I'm just waiting for the admission time and the time for the wire insertion.

I guess the good news is that it is so tiny that no matter what it is early, early....sigh.....
Just the thought of having to go through everything after the excision is tiring me. BUT, there is the very possible chance that it will be benign...... so, I am just going to enjoy thanksgiving and the run up to Christmas as much as possible......
Happy Thanksgiving!

It won't be long - hang in there. It's so good they're doing something - better to be safe. I'm not looking forward to the surgery either - yukk!!!
