Hi, all:

Just a question which I'll ask my onc in January when I see her for the second time, but want to know what your experiences have been. How are you all being watched? Mammogram once a year, staggered with MRI six months later, also once a year? Obviously I had both (and a sonogram) in July with diagnosis. Only the MRI found the second tumor (were 2 in one breast.) Having someone look every 6 months feels better to me.

That's what I think they'll be doing with me. Just had my first post-treatment mammogram today! I'm interested in what other people are doing, too.

I have an MRI, then 6 months later, a mammogram (so one of each per year) 2 annual visits with my onc, one gyn visit and one pcp visit-- so 6 times a year someone or something is checking my breasts.....just had my mammogram, they found a spot on opposite breast, having excisional biopsy on 12/6..... The up side is that we are followed closely, the down side is that they are seriously looking for things......

My oncologist follows the same testing procedures as momand2kids..ordering a mamogram once each year and then an MRI six months later, so one of each every year.  I also have a bone density scan once a year since I am on Arimidex.  His process is to see patients who are on tamoxifin or an AI every three months for the first two years after treatment and then every six months there after if nothing unusual is observed. He orders other scans only if there are issues.  Thus far, I have had a PET scan and a few CT scans and continue on the every three month schedule.  I also see the radiation oncologist and surgeon once a year although I know from reading some postings not everyone follows that process.  I like both my surgeon and radiation oncologist, and in my optionion it's not a bad thing to have two more sets of trained eyes looking at the mamograms and MRIs every year.
