Breast Cancer and Stress
I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. There is no history of cancer in my family and I would be considered a health 52 year old. I went through a very difficult divorce and the aftermath lasted for another 3 years. After my first chemo session I was worried about chemo brain and went to talk with the psychiatrist that helped me through the complications of divorcing a malignant narcissist. During that period I had frequent painful skin rashes and two bouts of shingles. He suggested that the amount of stress I endured could have triggered the breast cancer. Has anyone else with triple N had incredibly stressful periods in their life? Is there any research linking stress to breast cancer? My tumor was grade 3 not 1.

Yes, I had experienced more stress in the few years before my diagnosis than I'd ever had in my life. My father died of bladder cancer and was in palliative care for months. Less than a year after dad died, my mother was diagnosed with COPD and congestive heart failure. She's had a lot of health problems and has been hospitalized and flatlined a couple of times. So much stress...I can't describe. Then, out of the blue, I was diagnosed with TNBC. There were other stressful things happening in this timeframe, too. I honestly think there is a connection.

I too had a lot of stress in the three years before my diagnosis (TNBC, Grade 3, no fam history). I don't know if the stress is a direct cause, but I know that I personally tended to eat unhealthy and got out of the habit of exercise during that time, which could have contributed to the very rapid growth of my tumor. I also was sick more than usual during the year before my diagnosis, which suggests to me that my immunity was down, which I do think can be stress related. I have no research to back this up, but I would guess stress and its collateral damage (bad eating, etc) can contribute to growth but not trigger cancer. I understand cancer to be triggered by a cellular level malfunction, then the issue becomes whether your body kills it or lets it grow . . . the latter is where stress as a contributing factor makes sense to me.

Well, all the diseases are not hereditary, as per the therapies are concerned these do not completely cure the whole thing. As per the research linking stress you have said, in this reference i want to suggest you a very natural phenomenon. You can go for a post cancer detoxification.this would definitely help you as i am speaking out of the personal experience. I got this information through one of my close friend as i was so depressed. She referred me for Fresh Start Health Retreat Centre(had seen their FB page), situated South Island Highway,Oyster Bay in Canada. I availed the 5 day Wellness programme, i was very nervous about all these things, But once reaching their the place, atmosphere, ocean, spa services...i was already feeling rejuvenated. They taught me about what to eat and what to avoid in the programme, yoga, juice fasting everything went very smoothly and i was entirely relaxed, detoxed and felt awesome:) You can also personally contact them @ 888-6583324.
