Bay Area Folks . . .
Has anyone had any experience with Marzels in Walnut Creek or Pleasanton, (for prostheses) selection and fitting ??? A few ladies have already shared their experience in regards to Nordstrom's Thanks. Are there any other places you experienced ?? Are there any places to "stay" away from.
Thanks

I went to Marzel's for my prosthetics. They spend a lot of time with you and are very good at making you happy about your purchase, but you get more for your money at Nordstrom's--IF you like Amoena, because that's all Nordy's has. Marzell's has a variety of brands, of both prosthetics and bras. They are fabulous at fitting you. I did go to Nordy's to buy a couple extra bras.

singletona80, if you can find a place that will show you lots of options, GO FOR IT!
There are not only different brands and sizes (1, 2, ... 5, 6, 7, etc.), but also different shapes (triangular, teardrop, asymmetrical, etc.) and -- to my surprise -- different degrees of, um, "fullness". The forms can also be "weighted" or not; stick-on ("contact") or not; moisture-absorbing or not; and made of/filled with silicone, foam, fiberfil, or microbeads ...
Sheesh. I never knew it was so complicated. And, I never would have found out about all those options if I hadn't read about them here or followed the links provided on this forum. I went to a really good mastectomy supply store that catered to women with breast cancer. All they wanted to show me were the most expensive forms. I went there 3 times, and I think they showed me a total of 3 different breast forms among all those visits. Once the fitter decided what size I should wear, she only brought out one form for me to try. Of course, I bought that one; and it turned out to be all wrong for me.
So, go "shopping", if you can. Ask lots of questions, and insist on looking at and trying on lots of different forms. Try different forms in different bras, because the "projection" (contour?) of the bra can affect what the form looks like. Then, once you know what you like, you can buy them wherever you want.

(I'm not in the Bay Area, so I can't help with suggestions on that.)

I wasn't fitted for a prosthesis by them, but purchased a post-surgical cami and later a lymphedema sleeve and glove. The lady Jennifer who runs it is very nice and very helpful. They also submitted receipts to my insurance for me. They carry a lot of specialty items - swimsuits etc. My experience was quite positive. Good luck!
