Altering my Tribute myself?

I got my Solaris Tribute back from being altered.  My LTx asked Solaris to take the sleeve in from the elbow to the fingers and to do something about the thumb where I had chronic abrasions and blisters.  The taking-it-in part went splendidly.  Prior to alteration, I had swelling in my wrist and pinky finger, but  that's gone.  The problem is that they removed the stitching on the top 1.5 cm of the thumb.  The problem area of the thumb isn't being irritated any more, but at the cost of my thumb no longer getting compression (my thumb may be more swollen when I take it off than when I put it on).  I'm sure that they would agree to re-sew the thumb stitching, but it seems like a simple fix.  What do you think?  Should I do it myself?   I gotta say, I missed the old oven mitt, and am reluctant to part with it for another couple of weeks.   KS1

This is a Linda Lou question, KS.  I am hoping she comes along and answers it.  She's a sewing whiz.

KS1--let them do it, it voids the warranty if you do it--for me, they sent me a whole new garment, and let me hang on to the old one. Stephanie Gamble at Solaris is a good person to disccuss this with.

ditto Kira - any alterations voids warranty - talk to Solaris they can probably arrange a real quick turn around time for you w overnight Fedex  etc.

From your link Kira I just found out that Ontario's ADP does not cover Solaris night sleeves :(  I think Reid Sleeves are covered though.  I'll find out today when I see my fitter.  Seems to me I got a notice ages ago from Reid that Ontario was covering a portion.

Hi all -- I overnighted the tribute to Solaris for re-altering.  Total time elapsed between when I mailed it off and I got it back was a week.  When they resewed the thumb, they made the thumb seam less thick. I wore it last night and my thumb wasn't red this AM.  Also, despite having a salt-soaked Thai meal yesterday, I am having a good arm day.  I love my tribute and Solaris's customer service people.  KS1

I am so jealous KS1.  My sleeve has been gone for three weeks now.  I am so ready to have it back again.  Glad you are having a good arm day.
