I don't know if this is what you are experiencing, but my radiology oncologist told me I could occasionally experience sharp shooting pains caused by the cut nerves where I had surgery. She said this could happen quite some time after surgery, as the nerves begin to heal and try to connect. It's like they are sending out messages, but the messages aren't getting through because that nerve was cut or injured. She said one of her patients reported  a sudden pain so sharp it made her jump up in the middle of church.

Is there an advice nurse you can call? It couldn't hurt to ask.

I am almost 2 months out of radiation and still having sharp pains in my radiated breast and armpit. I did ask my radiation oncologist about them, and he said it was normal and part of the healing process. However, I do have an appointment with him coming up and I'm definitely going to ask again!

I felt 'zaps' for a long time (and still do occasionally years later); it's normal, the nerves growing back together.

Yep - sharp, stabbing pains are normal.  A few weeks ago I was in to see the onc and radiologist (visits happened to coincide) and I reported a pain that I was feeling in my clavicle area.  Everyone asked if it was a sharp, shooting pain and mentioned that if it was then it was normal.  However this was more of an ache.  Mostly very minor but for about a month it would get very strong for 15 to 30 minutes each day.  That's why I reported it.  Got an x-ray and it came back clear.  And since then it has gone away.  Don't know what it was.  Radiologist was pretty confident from what I was reporting that it wasn't a concern because it wasn't a consistent pain.  He was right!
