they need more films-----aghhhhh!!!!
So,
after running down the scheduler at my surgeon's office to schedule the excsional biopsy (December 6) she tells me I have to come in for more films. I had my mammo 2 weeks ago at my onc's, surgeon is at different hospital. I KNOW my surgeon is beyond picky, that is why I chose her. But I completely flipped about more films. the scheduler was quick to say "they don't see anything else, they just want to make sure they know where to put the wire", etc. but I was just gone..... started to get really nervous even though the surgeon, radiologist AND the onc have said that it really doesn't look like anything....
My blood pressure has been through the roof this past week with the waiting, the ongoing cold that I have and the new tendinitis in my shoulder (from computer work and lifting luggage).
But, I tried to get over it and scheduled the films for the day before Thanksgiving..... just want to be done with that part--then I will still have to wait another 10 days.... but I have to admit, this waiting is soooo much different than the original dx--partially because there is no dx and hopefully it will stay that way and also because I know the drill and who to call and what I have to do. That should calm me down a little.
Intellectually, I know this is going to be fine-- but it does remind me that these things are going to happen and I need to develop better coping skills. Thanks for letting me vent
thanks !!!!

Momand2kids: Calm down sweetie. I've just posted on the other thread (Stage 1 and 2 bc) in reply to your post - go and read it.

Momand2kids, In my opinion your feelings are very normal. How can you not be reminded of the old stuff when going through this. Go ahead and vent. We do get it.

Coping skills and patience. Before my dx I had no idea how much training you get on those two when you're a cancer patient. It never seems like no matter how much we practice they are never good enough.
Because you've been through this before and because you do know what to expect it probably makes it harder on the emotions. Sure, our heads know the drill. But our emotions are part of our defense mechanisms and they've got to kick in during times like this. Just keep venting!

Patience-- you are so right-- we have to have it in spades. I keep listening to the recording from the surgeon, who I trust implicitly--I know she doesnt think it is anything, but I also know nothing is real until the pathology comes back....
So, I will go do the extra films this week- then wait for the procedure on 12/6-another exercise in patience-have to show up at 6am for a 10am surgery..... I am glad that they are taking this seriously---they got on it quickly and we have moved fast--- and it is different than before when we KNEW it was cancer and I could not wait to get it out...... I am much more relaxed about it now.... It is what it is....
