Anybody heard of USANA?
A BC friend of mine told me her friend strongly recommended USANA to her, and that person said she didn't take any chemo or rad, but just took USANA, and she survived from BC. My friend was told USANA is now the best nutrition product in the world and better than anything else.
As I haven't heard of this before, does anybody hear of it?

My name is Dr. Michael Neeley. I have been using and recommending Usana Health Sciences, Inc. products in my clinic for the past six years, including to numerous BC patients.
Usana Health Sciences, Inc., produces the world's most potent, balanced, bioavailable and complete pharmaceutical grade nutritional products on the market today, as well as a completely preservative-free line of skin-care products, and low-glycemic weight management products. In fact Dr. Christiane Northrup, MD., ("America's Ob/Gyn") is an avid proponent of Usana's products, as she mentions in Suzanne Summer's books.
However, one should use caution in BC situations when choosing "one or the other" type of treatments, and should definitely be in close contact with their oncologist. Pharmaceutical grade nutritionals, like Usana produces, are very helpful in preventing some future occurance of disease, and then, in situations of chemo and radiation, helping to rebuild your body's immune system and normal physiological functions. These products are unbelievable in what they can actually accomplish.
I simply want to caution the BC patient to look at all options and work with you Gyn and Oncologist. Download the literature (I'll give you the link below,) and show it to them. Form a team for your best health outcome. They may bring chemo and radiation, surgery, etc., to the table. You bring literature and clinical data on the use of, again, pharmaceutical grade nutritional suplementation to the table. Make the decisions based on all factual knowledge. If and when your Doctors are open to it, ABSOLUTELY get Usana supplements on board. Simply make sure that you are all in agreement and on the exact same page.

Certainly hope this helps.

I read a lot of nutrition information and have many friends who are into nutrition as well as raw, vegan, veg and health conscience people and no one has heard of Usana. There are many distributors for these supplements but nothing legit has supported this product. None that I have heard or found anyhow.

Usana is the name of a company that distributes natural nutritional supplements, diet/energy bars/powders/drinks, and cosmetic products.
-
Its like Amway. I'm sure they say their products are the finest.
-
Timothy, it is like Amway! They definitely say their products are "the finest" -- and, like Amway, they distribute through individual sellers, who push the products to their acquaintances...

I was told that USANA is a nutrient we can take to get vitamins or to do exercises and get the best outcome possible. It is also a good idea to take USANA when we feel kind of sick ! Thanks

Usana was founded by Dr. Myron Wentz, a microbiologist who invented the test for the EpsteinBarr virus, among others. He owned a very successful laboratory that diagnosed disease, but he wanted to do more about helping to avoid disease, so he founded Usana. Since the outset, Dr. Wentz has run the company with integrity, taking no salary as a CEO and using his stock earnings to start childrens medical centers in third world countries. Usana is one of only two US companies that make supplements following pharmaceutical grade standards, rather than food grade, for ALL of their products. They also make skincare products and have a patent on a paraben free/formaldehyde free preservative that major cosmetics companies have tried to buy. They also offer a million dollar guarantee to any athlete who uses their products and fails a drug test for a banned substance. They are recommended in the Physicians Desk Reference and have continually been rated as the Gold Standard in the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements, a Canadian publication that was commissioned to help people compare supplements.
After spending two years trying different supplements, and seeing my blood tests go up and down depending I the brand, I decided to become a Usana associate. I am only responding here because of some of the negative comments. We are not encouraged to "push" supplements on friends and relatives. I know many other Usana associates, and while some people may be in it for the money, most are like me. We want to help others use every source available to better health. I am currently starting a weightloss porgram with Usana products with some doctors that we are very excited about. I endorse Usana because I feel I can trust their quality.
Yes, Usana only markets directly through people like me. Dr. Wentz did not want his products to sit on store shelves. He wanted people to market them in such a way that they could tell their own personal stories and explain the products. It is a multilevel set up, but it is not an amway type company. People work as a team, not just to help each other grow their businesses but to spread the message about encouraging healthier lifestyle choices. There are many wellknown doctors associated with Usana, but I will not name them, our of respect for their privacy.
I did not intend for this to be a sales pitch, but hey, you asked, so I hope this answers some questions.

Hi Vivre,
Do you happen to know where I can find data comparing Usana supplements to other brands?
The source you mention, the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements, has been criticized as being a thinly-veiled marketing tool for Usana itself, and I was unable to find Usana products on the Physicians' Desk Reference consumer website at PDRHealth.com . I'm interested in the data, and I'm surprised that I wasn't able to find any comparison data on their website. What is it about their products that is objectively better than other high-quality brands?
I'm not that familiar with the distinctions between multi-level marketing and pyramid schemes, but I wonder if you are a Usana distributor and if so, do your Usana endorsements here on BCO reflect that?
