Hi

Today is my 4th year since diagnosis anniversary. I thought maybe just once that I could be happy with that, but got blood results and my calcium and alk phos. are elevated. I went for another blood test yest, and hopefully it was a fluke. I just wish this could ever be over.

Congrats, Ilene!!  I hate that it's a mixed emotional deal for you.  Keep us posted on the blood tests.  Most likely it's a fluke.

congratulations ihopeg on your 4 year anniversary.

Don't know if this helps but I also had an elevated Alk. Phos and Calcium.  It took about 4 months to get it back to normal.

How elevated was yours and what is the reference level?

Ilene,  Thanks for sharing the 4 year anniversary. Congratulations!  That elevated blood test may be just fluctuation caused by other stuff.  Like you, I hate this worry, seems like there is always something there to remind us.  4 years is good!

    SusieMTN,

The calcium level was 10.3, and the alk phos was 134. The normal values are Calcium 8.6-10.2mg/dl and the alk phos normal values are 33-130u/l. These values don't seem very high, but I read any high calcium is not good. I have taken Femara for 3 1/2 years, I hope it has something to do with that. My cholesterol and triglycerides were high too, but I just attributed them to the Femara. Wait, wait, wait....

congrats on the four yrs. hope many many more to come. will be anxious to hear your results.

i was doing some research about low Vit.D causes fatigue, etc. common after chemo. had to go to 3 drs. finally went off on chemo npr. and got loud. onco came in, and said of course, what's the problem ( to n. Pract.) they took it, it was almost non existent. pick up rx. 2 moro. wanted vit D3, have read that's the best. this Np really has gotten a lot wrong. told onco from now on, will only go when she can see me. she agreed, i need more attention to detail, than ive gotten.

Many , many of you maybe not here, but at b.c.o. said i was expecting too much from onco. i just kept reminding myself that Meec's onco still listens and treats her. Onco was really upset that she hadn't been told all the CRRRap i've been thru.gave me her # to call, it's a voice mail she gets directly, and she will call me back. that made such a difference for me. i really love this woman. she seems to be the only one who thinks MS is a consideration, both inactive treatment, and watching for reoccurence.

well, i hope tonite i will sleep. in a lot of pain, but i earned it. Spent the day with my beloved Fischer, my GS , so i'll glad pay the price for that. it's not looking good for doing anything for Veterans Day except pray out of gratitude. our local cemetary, which is huge.. has a ceramony to honor our veterans, don't think i'll make it in the AM 2morrow, tho. havent slept in 2 days..its normal, at times, but takes the stuffing right outta me..  nite ladies, my prayers are with you all...

four years is four years.  i think each day is worth it.  i am sorry you are dealing with blood work that is causing you stress.  just remember that all kinds of stuff can mess with blood work.  they have to check it a couple of times before getting concerned.  i know this stuff is so hard.  it is what we do....as cancer survivors...hang in there.  try to not get too far ahead of yourself...keep us in the loop. hang in there.

Now I can actually stop holding my breath. All of the bloodwork came back normal. My onc said it very common for calcium and alk phos levels to rise, but mine went back down on the 2nd bloodwork. My endo also said all is fine too. I had a mammo this am and came back normal. Thw next thing I have to worry about is MRI which I don't have until June!!!
