crying tonight

Options

Just heard that a woman I knew 20 years ago died of breast cancer after being diagnosed in January 2009.  No, I haven't seen her in that long, but she is my sister.  She was a wife , daughter, mother, sister and friend, and she died at 55.  She was one of the healthiest, cleanest living people you could hope to meet  - and this was NOT HER FAULT.  And cancer is a  @ thief!

Anyway, I'm just very sad tonight, about those who die, and those of us who have to live with the knowledge that it could just as easily be us.

Where is the cure?

darCraig So sorry you are feeling sad. Before BC I always felt sad of course if someone lost their life to cancer but now having BC definitely adds a whole new element of fear to tragic news. We can't hold onto the fear though, we have to move on and live life as best we can.

I hope tomorrow is better, stay strong.

Dear one, I am so sorry to hear about your sister.  What happened to her is the reason so many of us live in such fear.  There is no perfect answer to what we can do to survive. It is like playing Russian Roulette with our lives.  I was once told by a beloved relative that his neighbor shocked everyone by dying of cancer.  He said she was a perfect candidate for how to survive.  Kept so healthy, with a positive nature and no one expected it to claim her but it did.  In fact, when he heard of my diagnosis, I am such the opposite of his neighbor that he never expected me to still be here today.  Yet, for some strange reason, I am.

As for the cure, it is where all the other "cures" for horrible terminal diseases are. IMO,   In the bank accounts of greedy humans who seem to put making money more important than actually finding a cure for these diseases.  What good does it do to send a man to the moon if the earth we are living in is filled with the graves of dear people who should still be alive!!  I am angry like you and very sad for your lost.  It doesn't do any good for me to tell you that your beloved sister is at peace and finally free of the beast who took her life.  Because that beast leaves behind her loved ones who have to deal with their grief.  In actuality, it strikes twice.  At the victim and also at the loved ones.   May you find some way to deal with your grief.  I am so sorry I cannot find the right words to make this easier on you.  Peace be with you.
