I just left my 3rd round of A/C and ofcourse my appt. with onc.  I am very rarely left speechless like I was today.  When I first met with my oncologist (he is also my Mom's onc.) he stated he wanted to hit my cancer hard which would include 4 rounds of A/C and then 4 rounds of Taxol. I'm a stage II with no nodal involvement.  Well today he informed me that he had decided against the Taxol since no nodes were involved.  There were no nodes involved 7 weeks ago when he wanted to hit it hard.  Should I be worried.  I am worried.  Have any of you had a treatment plan interrupted like that?  You TN gals are the ones with opinions I trust most.  What would you do?

I'd get a second opinion.  I know timing is crappy for this, but it's your life and you only get one shot at this beast.  I had no nodes and am stage 1 and my onc insisted on my finishing all my treatments - and that's with one bout of febrile neutropenia (cellulitis of my surgical breast) and a hospitalization of 6 days and weeks of IV antibiotic infusions.  She postponed my second AC for three weeks due to that, and then resumed all remaining 7 treatments.  I have never heard of any onc stopping someone's treatment for no discernible reason.  Many of us with no node involvement but triple neg, have the full monty regarding chemo, so I can't understand his take on that either.  I wish you the best.

Definitely, get a second. I had no node involvement either but had 12 weeks of Taxol. My Onc said to hit it with everything you have the first time. If it does come back, then we are not saying we could have, should have.

Prayers to you and good luck!!!!

I recall reading research that taxanes are especially beneficial to triple negatives. Some of the ladies here with smaller tumours and no node involvement had a TC combo. I agree with the others, get another opinion.

I agree with others, get a second opinion. NJ

This it total bull crap.  Even without node involvement, it can have entered your body through blood vessles....theres a word for it...microvascular invasion I think.  Plus, what if it slipped past a node and went on but didn't make the node possitive (just a guess).  Finish the AC try not to allow a break from the regular schedule of AC....go elsewhere right away if you have to...try to stick as close as possible to the original timing of the AC.  It looks like you are due another AC any day now...RUN to another center if that doctor wont give it to you.  Insist.  Tell them you don't agree.  You need your doses on a schedule in order to fit in with the wonderful statistics of how well the chemo works for triple negatives.  This doctor is ignorant.  There is no treatment past chemo.  You need your chemo.  Then get your Taxol sister.  Insist.  Find someone right away to do this for you.  God Bless you sister.
