mammo tomorrow--panicking
I have LCIS/ADH/ALH. I was diagnosed last year, and have had two clear mammos since my dx.
I am scheduled for another mammo tomorrow, and I am panicking. I know my risks, but I cannot take tamoxifen.
I feel a ridge/thickening in the same breast where I had the excisional and a new lump. I am terrified that something will show up on tomorrow's mammo.
Please can you talk to me? I am panicking. I don't want to worry my family, so I feel if someone doesn't talk to me, I may go crazy.
Thanks

When dealing with cancer, tests are always anciety producing. Keep in mind that what you are feeling may be scar tissue from a biopsy. Exercise, call a friend & go for a long walk, work in the garden, clean, etc. Rather than sitting around dwelling on what may be, just do something to relieve your stress. Find a way to keep yourself busy. Remind yourself how lucky you are to live in an age of advanced technology that can detect trouble spots at an early stage. The earlier a problem is discovered, the quicker it can be treated.

We are here for you. Try and relax, I know it's hard! Just think, by this time tomorrow it will be done with and over. And as mawhinney said, keep busy! And I also exho her in saying that the earlier something is found, the faster it can be treated.
My best to you!
XOXO

wonderful advice from mawhinney--all good ideas to keep your mind off things. I was diagnosed with LCIS 7 years ago (and risk further elevated by family history of bc); I do high risk surveillance of alternating mammos and MRIs every 6 months, breast exams on the opposite 6 months. I took tamoxifen for 5 years and now take evista for further prevention. (are you able to take evista? you have to be post menopausal). Early on, I did get nervous and obsess about upcoming tests, but the passage of time really helps. Worrying isn't going to change anything, so try not to waste your time worrying. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

Whatever it is you may be dealing with (hopefully it will turn out to be absolutely nothing). You couldn't be in a better situation than to have your mammogram tomorrow. So much better than if you were calling to try and schedule something days or weeks from now. You are already scheduled and they will be ready to help you. The waiting is the hardest part. I'm sending good karma for you and your test tomorrow. Hope all goes well.

Thank you all!! I am trying to take your advice and relax. I will take a hot bath and an anti-anxiety medication and try to sleep. I will definitely let you all know what happens.
awb, I am pre-menopausal so I can't take Evista. I can't take tamox because I am one of those strange people who reacts very badly to it: constant dizziness and nausea. I couldn't work if I was on the medication. I decided I wanted some QOL, so with my doctor's consent, I stopped taking it.
Again, thank you, you wonderful, wonderful ladies for coming on here and trying to calm me down.

Enjoy your bath and relax! Let us know how tomorrow goes.
