2 year anniversary visit
So,
back to the onc on Tuesday for a mammogram and check up. Also going to visit the sexual health clinic to talk about the lupron/femara induced lack of libido and vaginal dryness.....sigh.
Have nagging periodic pain in my hip--going to have to tell them that too.. truth is I just want to go in and say "I feel great" which I usually do...but somehow I find myself just dreading this visit. I know I did all that I could (lump, chemo, radiation) to make sure I never had this again, and I don't think I do, but this annoying hip pain is making me worry about recurrence-----
I also want to ask for estring or a break from the meds.... I just feel like my body functions are screwed up by all of this...I would like to get back to normal and start over....does this make sense? I am pretty sure she won't support a med vacation..... but I am going to try.
anyway, it has been 2 healthy years--hoping for many more!!!

I hope the hip pain is no big deal. We are so vulnerable to fear about our aches and pains once we've had a BC diagnosis. I've gone through it, too. It would be nice to say, "I feel great." and believe it, wouldn't it?
I so understand how the hormone deprivation affects everything. I feel, look, and experience life as a person much older than I am. I take Femara, too. I have most of the bad SE's. Since we can't know for sure if the drug is helping or hurting us, it's tempting to want to give it up. I will reach the 5 year mark of taking Femara in February. My onc. already told me we will be having the discussion about whether to stop or not. I'll ask to keep taking it, and he'll support me. Sigh....... Don't get me wrong, I feel more than fortunate that I've had no recurrence yet, and it may just be this drug that's responsible.

Hi Momand2kids,
I just want to say congratulations on the 2 years-that is a good milestone!
You are not alone in analyzing every little pain. I go through that almost daily.
Hope you get some answers for your concerns. We deserve to get back to "normal."
Best wishes,
Cat

Congratulations on the two year mark!
I wish one of these pills we take everyday would get rid of all the SEs of the other pills we take. It does get so confusing figuring out a "real" problem from a treatment related SE. I can't help but feel like a whiner when I mention something to my onc but he tells me he wants to know. Sigh.
Hoping for a great follow up for you and many more to come!

thanks all--in general, I do feel great--this hip thing started a few weeks ago in my yoga class....not sure if I pulled something the wrong way... of course today I have the flu and am home with my youngest--both of us with sore throats and headaches---need to rest so I can get to the onc tomorrow......

dear all
at the visit today they found a.5mm calcification on my left side-- radiologist does not think it is cancer but wants me to have it removed and biopsied--- he felt that it would be hard to biopsy it given its location (sort of under my arm, not in the nodes).... I have started the process of running around my films, calling the surgeon, etc.
anyone have anything like this? I am assuming it is benign, but I know anything is possible.
-
No experience with calcifications other than in my cancerous breast. But if I remember correctly can't calcifications develop as the result of cell death from surgery wounds or other injuries? Could it be as simple as that?
-
Anacotas,
You may be right--surgeon thinks it is nothing-but will be taking it out just the same... lots of differnt explanations about how calcifications appear in our bodies....
-
momand2kids,Glad the surgeon thinks it's nothing. Keep us posted, and praying it's nothing to worry about.
