Please need support
I was diagnosed with severe ADH and benign papillomas last December. Had surgery. Went back for my three month followup and I needed another MRI guided biopsy. Everything then was okay. Now just went for my six month mammo which came back benign. Just got a call from my surgeon's office to ask to change my appt. from two weeks to Friday. I asked if maybe he was busy with surgery or going away the week I was supposed to go in but she said it's normally because something was found and he does want to see me asap. HOw can my mammo be totally normal and the mri with contrast show something in this short of time? The regular mammo lady I had for years was not there. This mammo lady only took like ten minutes and didn't even have me wait in the gown until radiologist looked at mammo to make sure she got good pictures. I'm so scared. I thought I was home free this time. I feel the surgeon is going to say I need another biopsy after only 6 months. If nothing is found on mammo does that mean whatever was found on the mri must be very, very small? I've been getting pain in the front of my neck on either side. It feels like a muscle and I also suffer with gerd. but now I'm scared something spread. I have my appt. tomorrow. I will not sleep tonight. Please ladies and encouraging words please.

Pattimay,
I'm a little confused - the mammogram was fine, but then something was found on an MRI - is that right? MRIs are more sensitive than mammograms - they will find things a mammogram may miss. However, they also pick up things that are not cancer and it takes a good radiologist to figure out what is what (I was told my MRI was "busy" because it picked up a lot of cysts and hormonal changes, along with the cancer). Even if you need a biopsy, 80% come back benign. I know you're going to worry tonight, but it may all be okay. I suspect your surgeon is being careful and responsible - just like you would want him to be.
Sending positive thoughts your way - Karen

Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way Pattimay! I know you are scared but the ladies are right 90% are benign so try and think positive! I know that is easier said than done under the circumstances.
Good luck !

Thanks ladies. I need your support. My husband is there for me but only you guys understand the fear. I'll let you know tomorrow. Can't wait for the night to be over and I'm there. I just want to get it over with. You know my mom is 81 and never ever had a call back on her mammos.
