I'll be here, it's one of my all time fave shows.
-
me too
-
I will be there, too.
-
bump - new season starts tonight

-
...and the Race is on...not wanting to say too much because I know time differences and some folks record to watch later.....will try to be generic in comments.......
The watermelon incident was a big surprise! That had to have hurt! DH and I have a lot of fun deciding which of us would do an individual challenge...and discussing how WE would do the couple things...like tonight's little "boat" challenge. He's 6'2", 230 lbs--I'm 5'2", 90 lbs-----can you even imagine US trying to complete that challenge!!!! That's what makes "Race" such fun for me.
Will take a few weeks before I find a fav to root for. Mostly, I enjoy getting glimpses of the foreign locations, scenery, etc.......my utmost admiration to anyone who can hop off a plane after an international flight and go gung ho!!
My biggest grump is Sunday football which always throws off the timing--especially if I want to record the show! Looks to be a good season with interesting characters!!!!
-
I've just finished watching, wow that watermelon had to have hurt I wonder if they'll show her black eye cause that is sure to come, its hard to decide on a favorite on night one but I like Brook & Claire and Nat & Kat and loved the dialog between Michael and Kevin in the boat. Can you imagine being a location scout for AR what a great travel experience that would be.
-
I liked the team that was eliminated tonight and wished they could have gone further. Early faves are the doctors and some of the parent/child combos. Early dislike is the dating couple where the guy gets frustrated and yells. But it seems like there is a couple like that every season, doesn't it?
-
yes it does, and I'm with you in disliking that. Also it seems this is a very photogenic bunch.
Loved seeing Stonehenge (in the country of London - d'oh!)
-
I also was disappointed by the team that went home - I liked them. I agree with the likes and dislikes stated above. Did anyone else notice that the doctor (I think she is Nat) had a blue cast on her arm in the interview portion? I wonder what was up with that!

Oh, the tattooed couple! At least they seemed to be good-natured that they don't know a lot. I did snicker at the castle when they read the clue "look for the flags on the battlements", and they had no idea what that meant, so walked up to the 'peasants' asking them if they were battle mints. It reminded me of the team from a few seasons back who didn't know what the word 'candelabra' meant and kept saying it candle-a-bra. And another team last night was wandering around the battlements looking for the flags and at one point, the guy was playing with the flag while wondering out loud where the flags were! I almost died laughing.
-
I really liked the team that was eliminated and wished they had been able to stay. The tatooed couple were hysterical and I'm glad they could laugh at themselves. Oh my gosh they were funny.......I also loved the Father/Son - the Dad made me smile, he seems so happy and the Father/Daughter - she was just funny - may get on my nerves later, but I did like her outlook. I also really liked the doctors and the volleyball friends. I love it when teams work together and don't scream and belittle each other.
I was initially really turned off by the dating couple (the girl with the really short blond hair). I didn't like the way he yelled and felt he "should' be winning. But....in his interview he seemed humbled and his eyes seemed to have opened - we'll see.
I really did not like the dating couple in which the guy was a college graduate and the girlfriend spent six years in beauty school. Well I like her, but don't like him. Why does he think having a college education makes him smarter or better? Really? He also seemed to remind the girlfriend of that too.
Until next week....
-
Exactly, jenn! Like she had to prove herself 'worthy' of him or something! (rolls eyes)
-
I guess we'll see more of that couple and see how they interact. I just don't understand what she sees in someone who diminishes her.
-
good morning, just bumping up the thread...
Hope you all have a pleasant Sunday! :-)
-
Another good race, noted at the very end of episode 2 it was the mother/daughter and father/daughter teams battling for last place. I was sorry to see the losing team go, I liked them.
Glad to see the tattooed people are still in, it's interesting to see how other cultures treat them.
-
grrrr...I had a difficult time with tonight's show. It seemed that the show "ka-binged and ka-bonged" on and off each couple and their challenges too quickly and I kept getting confused as to who was who and who was doing what! And, all the girls are so pretty and look alike--guess I've got them all confused in my head!!! Only teams I can keep straight are the tattooed couple and the Oriental father/son team. I'll get it figured out when the show is down to 4 or 5 couples!!! Looking forward to next week--and will try to pay closer attention!!!
-
I was sorry to see the biological mother/daughter team go, but they seemed so tentative and uncomfortable with each other, it had to affect their performance. Maybe spending the rest of the weeks at Elimination Station (Cancun) will let them bond with each other more naturally than on a frenetic game show.
-
agreed - being on a high-stress game show on national TV with a camera in your face all the time had to be about the worst way to get to know one another!
Football went long tonight, 60 Minutes on now, maybe a 45 minute delay in tonight's show?
-
grrrrr--Sunday football is ruining my shows! I may have to resort to catching up the next day and watch on the internet!!
Last race was interesting. Thought it was wild that the "choir boys" were the only ones who immediately found the key to decoding the puzzle and ended up finishing first. The tattooed couple have been so laid back--it was distressing to see Mr Tattoo get so angry with the Mrs over the hoop race challenge--he dropped off my radar because of his harshness! And, how many coupes couldn't immediately identify their whereabouts on a map of Africa! (Well, I've been lost about Africa ever since all the countries changed their names--nothing is what I learned in school!!!) Thought for a while that the Drs were going to finish last. Was sorry to see the father take ill during the hoop challenge and resulted in that father/son team being eliminated.
I enjoyed getting a brief glimpse of that part of Africa. Sometimes, I think I get more hung up on where they are rather than who they are and what they are doing!!!
-
Seeing the far-away places is one of the reasons I like The Amazing Race. Whoever said it's hard to keep track of the teams this time around is right. I keep getting the home shopping hosts (Brooke & Claire) and beach volleyball players (Katie & Rachael) mixed up. Actually had to jot down some notes last week! Junie, did you see at the very end, it was a non-elimination round. Michael & Kevin got a second chance. I was so glad to have the dad rewarded for struggling to finish the hoop challenge.
-
Badger--THANKS!!! I saw the last team check in and knew father/son were still out there rolling hoops--went for a bathroom run and got back, I guess too late! So???? next race they will have an extra step to complete??? Hope they survive next week--I like them better than some of the other contestants. Thanks for letting me know!!!
-
I was sad to see the boys go home, but they seemed to have a great attitude about it. I was so glad to see the father & son do so well this time - weird - they went from last to first and the boys went from first to last.
I was very aggravated with the tattooed guy last week for all his childish antics, but I did see something that made think he might actually be a good guy - so he was ranting and acting like an unhappy two year old, but when she had breathing distress, he stopped his nonsense immediately and was kind to her. That made me feel good about him. He is still pretty immature, but he put his problems aside the second he thought she might be in trouble.
-
It was a fun race to watch. I'm still not happy with the couple that is the "educated" man with the "hairdresser" woman. I find him to be extremely selfish and immature.
I was glad to see the father/son and father/daughter team do well.
-
Was sorry to see the choir boys go. But, glad that Michael/Kevin are still in the race. I enjoyed watching the mini sno-mobile downhill challenge. My last downhill ski adventure ended up wiping out on an ice patch; concussion; being taken down mountain in a little bodybag basket by a rescue team--no more snow/mountains for me!!! I cringed every time someone ran off the side and flipped--that snow isn't that soft to land in!!! Glad no one was hurt!
I'm still struggling to sort some of the teams out--but, I'm getting there. So far, everyone is playing nice--probaby a couple weeks from the deviousness coming out!!! Is it Sunday yet?????
-
Can't seem to get hold of names yet but loved that father/son dad/daughter got ahead and sad to see the boys go as they had such a wonderful attitude and how ironic they were eliminated from AR17 on their graduation day, they'll be able to dine out on that for the rest of their lives. I still love the docs and the home shopping hosts but don't think they'll make it to the end.
-
8 teams started in Norway tonight, here's how they finished:
1. Nat & Kat - doctors - ate roasted heads to fast forward to the pit stop
2. Gary & Mallory - father & daughter
3. Jill & Thomas - the hairdresser & the college boy
4. Michael & Kevin - father & son
5. Brooke & Claire - home shopping hosts
6. Nick & Vicki - the tattooed couple
7. Chad & Stephanie - he's outdoorsy, she's a former Miss USA
8. Katie & Rachael - beach volleyball players - eliminated tonight.
next week - Russia!
-
Badger--you're my hero!!! I was finally being able to put names to about half the contestants--thanks for the summary!!!!
Thought tonight's show was better. The challenges were more physical and thought at least one person would throw in the towel doing the bridge challenge. Still don't have a favorite team but liking Nat and Kat; Michael and Kevin; Nick and Vicki......thanks again that I can name names!!!!
-
You're welcome, Junie, IDK if it's chemo-brain or what but I couldn't keep them all straight this time... had to take notes.
Not that I like them any better, but on principle am hoping to have an all-female team win a race. It would be the first time. The odds were better with 3 out of 8, now it's down to 2 out of 7 teams.
-
glad Nick and Vicki are still in the running, but was surprised at another nonelimination week so soon....sure hope the show picks up the pace. For some reason, all my fav reality shows this year just aren't grabbing my attention! Looking forward to Sunday and hoping for a good show!
Guess I'm cheering for Nick and Vicki and Nat and Kat--but, can't get too enthused over anyone! grrrrrr!!!
-
Hi Everyone!
I just found this thread....my kids and I are huge Amazing Race fans. I am with you though Junie, I don't know if it is chemo brain but nothing is really grabbing my attention these days. Have gotten to see the whole episodes for the past two weeks, so I am starting to tune in on who is who and who we like. Too early yet for a favorite, but I do love Michael and Kevin..the dad is so happy and the kid is so calm and understanding. I don't know, however if dad will be able to make it all the way. Oh well, will have to wait and see.
