hello ladies, typing with one hand - still have pinched nerve in my bACK/shooulder that makes my whole right arm numb and painful. had MRI last tuesdsy with nothing major showing up - which is good , i guess, but not much for anwers either. then thurdsay, went for results and had a spinal tap. Seems like this pain mgmt Onc really wants to find source of pain, but wont consider anything other than more mets. Anyway, DH saw the fluid and said it looked nice and clear (phew). I dont really know where to go from here? arm/hand gets worse daily and soon i wont be able to use it for anythnig. kinda scary! med onc has turtled on this whole situation, as we havent seen or heard from her in 3 weeks. crap crap crap!!! i have no appeitite and now weigh 123. DH is worried now. but i cant eat if i feel sick, right?!

it's so nice to heaar about your lives, famillies, changing seasons etc. I miss Ontario, Karen, for all the bright red maples. we'll do a turkey for thansgiving this Sunday here, and sweet potatoes, candied carrots from my garden, and apple pie. hopefully i can get down at least one bite of each before full. ok, gotta lie down now, dizzy again.

I just want to say in addition to being thankful for my sweet boys (DH & Diesel) i'm thankful for all you Amazing women on these boards; listening, advising, sharing, caring. love to you all!  xoxo

Hi ladies.  Sorry I've been AWOL lately.  The last few weeks have been full, with doctor visits and Chronic pain mtg. classes. My feet and hands have been having numbness and pain problems, as well, so I know how you feel Choc...The neuropathy in my feet, was finally diagnosed with an NVC test, and the doctor said it was polyneuropathy, and that it wasn't good, but at least we know now what it is, and that it's not all in my head.  This accounts for the fatigue in my legs, and the muscle weakness. The doctor said it was in my motor functions, so it doesn't sound good, but I'll know more on Monday when I see a Neurologist. I had to be a pessimist, but it looks like it's going to be a long time before I can go hiking, camping, and kayaking again. But at least I can eat....I've gained 6lbs.in the last month, and it's not going to come off, if I don't get out walking around again.  Choc. it seems like I'm eating for you and then some. I sure hope you feel better soon.  Kelly you sound like your doing much better!  Three miles on your elliptical, gee I have trouble walking around the house, and it's not that big, so YOU GO GIRL!

    Love to all of ya'all

Chocolate and Leggy, sorry to hear about your troubles. At least Leggy you know what it is. Doesn't help much but I'm thinking about you both.

I finally got my port placed. Kelly this is my second one. My first one sprung a leak and when they tried to fix it the tubing dropped into my heart so I had to have emergency surgery. My blood wouldn't cooperate so it has taken 2 months to get it placed. Had chemo  on Friday with the new port and it worked great. My poor arm is grateful.

Kelly good for you on your elliptical. Leggy don't worry about a few pounds and Chocolate I will think of you when I eat anything really good. Maybe you will get the vibes.

    Everyone take care

So nice to hear from you Chocolate...that sucks with all the discomfort you are having.  I hope you can enjoy some of your thanksgiving dinner.   I have to tell you, I did see some beautiful colours yesterday,  we ended up driving for about 5 hours, stopping to walk the dogs and take it all in.  I feel so much better after being out in the woods.

Nice to hear from you as well Leggy,  damn, that is not good, it that the side effects from the chemo??  Hope that can be resolved for you.

Wyoming, how are you feeling since the chemo?  Glad you are doing alright.\

Kelly,  you have such strength girl, on your eliptical, that is great.

Just wanted to wish you all Happy Canadian Thanksgiving wishes.   We had a ham on Saturday and all the fixings.  Hope all the other girls are doing well.

    Hugs, Karen

Wyoming, I'm glad to hear you got your port.  I wish I got a port when I had my chemo. Yesterday I had some blood tests the Neurologist ordered, and they couldn't find a vein, so I have to go back, and drink lots of water, and keep warm. I think I got a little flu bug from the hospital, and got really sick last night. So that didn't help things, I'm sure.

KK I sounds like you had a nice time in the country, and I must be feeling better, cause your Canadian Thanksgiving dinner sounds real good.

well gals, I'm back in the slammer and it was only ã misdemeanor! on Sunday, during Thanksgiving dinner. I ate pureed carrots and mashed potatoes with gravy, but the turkey got stuck in my stent.

I began vomiting immediately and after 48hrs. finally let hubby bring me to emerge. they did ã scope, cleaned out the stuck food, but also saw new tumor growth and need to put in another longer stent. So that's scheduled for Friday. pls send me love and prayers! I'll let you all know how it goes.

Chocolate I'm so sorry. That had to be scary and maddening. You know you have all my prayers and thoughts.

Leggy be careful with the flu bug. I'm going sound like a mother hen, get plenty of rest and get plenty of fluids.

Karen I have a co-worker who is from Canada and she just got back from her Thanksgiving with her family. Your dinner sounds wonderful.

My port is working great and it is so much better than my arm. I have treatment tomorrow and then off for week.

Hunky, Bonnie, and Kelly how are all of you doing?

Hi all, had a great walk with a friend this morning.  Beautiful blue skies and even short sleeves!  I said a prayer for all of us, but especially Chocolate, while enjoying the weather and hot air balloons.  We all need to get healthy so we can go on the cruise when I win the lotto!     Kelly

Choc. I'm so sorry about your relapse, and especially after enjoying your pureed Thanksgiving dinner.  How awful to be back in hospital. My prayers are with you.  Kelly, you on the other hand seem like a shining ray of sunshine, and you warm my heart.  It's wonderful to hear how your enjoying life, even with all the crap you've been dealt, and you give me hope.

Today I'm going to my Chronic Pain class, so I'm going early and will try again to get my veins pumped up enough to get my 8 required vials of blood filled for the neurologist.  I'm already with my bottle of water. Sure wish I got that port, when I did chemo., but oh well, too late now.

Gotta go get ready, so bye for now, and my prayers are with ya'all.

Glad to hear from so many of you. Went to chemo but the doc wanted to talk to me. We went over the PET scan and there were no tumors on my liver or lungs any longer. I have a hot spot on my right femur but will be using Zometa. No more chemo for a couple of months which I'm excited about. We want to see how things go and let my body get healthy again. I can't wait to not feel tired or have nausea.

Leggy did they get all the blood they needed from you? I would give you some of mine if I could but it may not be any better than what you have. LOL

Kelly it is nice that you can enjoy this beautiful fall we are having. Are all you children in school?

Hunky I know I keep saying the same thing but make sure you are getting plenty of rest. Good thing you don't have any open wounds or infection.

Chocolate my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bonnie I hope you are enjoying your fall.

Wyoming, I think that is great news.  I hope this break from trt provides you with some feeling of normalcy.  More energy to keep up with your dear kids and your small grandchildren.  Love hearing your news.  I am a bit anxious to hear what my onc has to say about my last chest CT.  PS told me not to worry about it so I guess that is a good sign.  I go for my checkup in a couple weeks.  Chocolate...I say a simple prayer everynight for you.  I have a lot of people on my list.  Stay comfortable my friend.  I'll bet Diesel is one big boy by now.  Gentle hugs to all!  Hunkydory

Chocolate...so sorry to hear that you are going through this now.  Will be thinking about you on Friday.

Wyoming..what great news.  So, glad that you are able to stop the chemo and feel better.

HunkyD..good luck with the ct and your appointment.  I am sure everything will be OK.

LeggyJ.. Chronic pain is not good to deal with, my friend has chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalagia and she finds some relief with acupuncture.

Kelly.. hot air balloons, that must be fun to watch.   I definitely like the idea of the cruise.

Bonnie,  hope things go well for you next week.

Well, I have a doc appt on the 23rd to follow up on the chest xray.  I have had a cold this past week so I am coughing with that...not sure what is going on.    We went out and purchased a bed today.  DH has major back problems so hopefully this helps.   The Brick threw in a TV with the bed, not a  bad deal. I think that was DH's plan...LOL.

Hugs to all of you,  Karen

Wyoming I'm so happy for you!!!!!  No chemo. is such good news! HunkyD good luck on the CT.

Thanks for all your well wishes for me, I got the blood drawn yesterday, Thank God!  It did take an hour, to find the order from my doctor, and I had to go to two labs that were about 5 miles apart, but I had a really good girl who got me on the first stick.  All she did was warm up my arm for 5 minutes, and we were good to go.

KK, I hope you feel better soon, and have sweet dreams....

    Love to all

hi gals! first i'd like to say you are the best supportiive ever!!!

i didnt need a new stent. they flushed out the junk, then scoped again and iit looked more like cell death from raadiation thaat is the issue. thats good if its tumor death!

and iit was blocked by all the swelling.

so they did a dilatiion to expand the current opening ffom 6cmm to 12cm. reg size is 20cm.

i am alreaddy on clear fluids, down another 5 pounds, but hope to gget pureed food today and get chowing down. if i need another stent down the road, that is still an option. yyayyy!

wyoming - i have a port too so i know how much you will love yours. i'm even thinking of upgrading to the new power pump they can use for ct's now too. yest the could only find one vein on me in my ankle. ouch!

ok, love to you all. my hand is cramping, so must sign off. if dh brings laptop you'll see me again soon, but he hasnt taken any pics of Diesel so yo'll have to wait a little longer. :p yep he's almost outgrown the large size crate, but he's still full of kisses. he's ã big baby!! and daddys best friend.

Hey, Choc....glad your scope showed some cell damage from radiation.  Hope it is tumor cells that are dying off.  I know your eating is still limited.  I hope you have your laptop and will get some decent soft/blended foods.  I am another person with bad veins, so I totally understand the convenience of the port.  Ok, I know I have to make the decision but I have question to ask here.  My onc has been pushing for me to have ooph and possible hysterectomy because of my stage and Tamoxifen.  I did not have BRCA testing but am highly suspicious.  I have met my catistrophic medical limit again this year so if I were to have the surgery before December 31 it would be zero dollars out of my pocket.  Can anyone tell me any pros-cons to this?  I asked my PS at last appt and he said it would more than likely be done vaginally because of previous surgery, so not laproscopic.  He also said he would definately do it if my onc was for it.  I know I have been through a few surgeries but would like your imput if anyone has had it done.  I am now almost 2 years through tamoxifen.  Thanks....HD

Hunky, I had my hysterectomy about 15 years ago. I had no problems but also didn't have cancer at the time.

Chocolate good news on cell death. Give Diesel hugs and kisses for me. I bet he is getting big and has no concept how big he is.

Lerggy good thing you had a good girl to get your blood. Keep us posted about what the results are.

Karen I hope they can get your cough under control. If it isn't one thing it is another. I hope you feel good otherwise.

Bonnie and Kelly how are you doing?

Yahoo!  We've had good news from Kelly, Wyoming, and now Choc.!  That makes my day!

Hunky, I've been on Tamoxifen for 2.5 yrs, and I'm now on a VK, from it. You will be so happy to not have to take that cr#p, anymore.  It sounds like the doctors want you to have a ooph, and they know better than I do, that's for sure.  I've still got all my plumbing, but I wouldn't miss it at this stage of my life.

Choc. I'm really happy for you, and hope you can have some really food soon.

    Love to all

    Here is a funny thing...

I went to the active threads page and thought one of the first lines read "horizontal therapy"

I did a double take and then laughed.  Not sure why my brain went there as I am NOT interested in any of that type of therapy but it was my laugh for the day!   Kelly

Kelly that was a good one. I'm don't want that kind of therapy either.

Hunky I have been working all along. I have only missed one day when I had my port put in.

Chocolate have you had any food yet? I hope so.

Leggy have you gotten your blood results back yet?

    Happy Thursday everyone!!

Hi girls, the blood tests are in the hosptial website, but only one concerns me.  The Rhematoid arthrithis test went from one end of the scale to the other, but I'm no doctor, so I'm trying not to read to many things into it. Yeah right, I don't even believe that.  Next tues. I get the Lumbar Puncture, from the Neurologist, but I'll have to wait for all the results on Nov. 9th.  The worst part of the appointment is that we have to drive about an hour and a half to the hosptial, but that's the joy of living in the country, and thank God I don't live there.  It's in a really bad town with lots of crime so I'm glad it's far away. Even though I'm not working right now TGIF!

Leggy, hope your neurologist appt turns out ok.  I think the amount of drugs from chemo and the hormonals does irreversable damage to a degree.  I am pretty sure.  I am glad you don't have to endure the physical and mental torture of work anymore right now.  Wyoming, I can't believe you can keep working.  It makes me tired hearing that. I am totally amazed.  You are one tough cookie.  They raise them there in Wyoming though I know!  LOL.  Hope everyone else is coping.  I got a call out of the blue at work today...PS wants me to go get ultrasound on incisional hernia repair area.  He tried to drain something out of what we thought was seroma last week but got nothing.  I just hope it isn't a big problem with the mesh he used, or even worse...ultrasound shows something else.  It is always something.  I am really getting crazy.  I am also penciled in for a hyst/ooph? in December.  I have met my catastrophic limit again this year so if I get it done will save me money.  We will see what onc and gyno decide.  Both Drs are for it from what I understand.  I have to get past this incisional hernia problem also.  Sorry to go on about myself.  Hugs to ya all....hope your have a great weekend.

P.S.  You candyholics....halloween is coming up.  I am jealous I can't eat candy cause of poor teeth!  Whaaa!  HD

     HunkyD,

Your right about the irreversible damage from chemo./hormonal drugs.  My GP who I saw on Thurs. said she talked with the neurologist and said that they maybe able to stop the nerve damage from progressing, but there's nothing the reverse it.  I just wanted to shout JUST MAKE IT STOP!  Unfortunately, now I can barely walk...Just with I could be as strong as the rest of you girls, but us CA's are a bunch of babies.  Will it help if I just move out of here?  None of us can afford to stay here anymore.  Canada sounds good.

Leggy, pain is real...no matter where ya are.  At least your in warm climate.  I don't know if that is a factor with neurapothy.  You are not a baby.  I can understand cost of living.  Economy isn't good here either.  Need my insurance and my co-pay went up %7.  It is raining here today and cooler, so not much to do outside.  Picked a lot of tomatoes the other night with flashlight and put them in a plastic grocery sack.  If I through a couple onions and some cilantro and chili peppers in there will it make it's own salsa....I am definately not very energetic.  Hope all are doing ok.....XXOO Hunkyd

Oh HD it's pouring here right now, and Napa Valley only has the vineyards half picked, and the rest are rotting or raisins.  My boyfriend is a manager of a winery, today as tired as he was, from working 7 days a week, he took me to lunch. Turned out to be a good day, even with the darn rain.

I had to turn in some papers to HR at work today to get my back vacation pay, of 4 wks, and request for an extent ion of 3mo. on my state disability. My Mom said well, why mail it let's just go in on Wed..  She's going with me...What a pair we'll make.  We both laughed so hard.  My Mom is 80, and she's been taking care of me.  You gotta love that.

Leggy you are not a baby. We all have our own tolerance for what we are going through. Have you tried taking vitamin B6 for your neurapothy? I take about 4 tablets a day and it seems to be working. My onc said I could take up to 6 a day.

Hunky I laugh about your salsa. Wouldn't it be great if it did make itself. I used to bake a lot but now I don't feel like it. If I do bake I take to school for my staff. It helps me not to eat it all.LOL. I have been trying to be a good girl and not buy too much Halloween candy.

I have some sad news, I have to put my dog down. She is 13 1/2 years old. Last year she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, but was doing really good. This last weekend she started to throw up, took her to vet and had blood work, she is in kidney failure. So tomorrow after work hubby and I will take her to vet and then back home and bury her. She was one of the family.

Chocolate, Bonnie, Kelly, and Karen hope you all are feeling good.

    Have a happy week.

Yea, I like it when everyone is posting up a storm.  It makes me feel closer to you all.

We had a nice weekend visiting my son in Crested Butte Colorado. I think my boys (19 and 21) were glad to see us but you could really tell at the end of the weekend that the boys were not too sorry to see us go.  I guess that is growing up and they don't like us there correcting them.  It was a long drive home with a two hour stop so my husband and two of the kids could fly fish a bit, then pulled into the driveway, ran in the house, put on costumes, and ran back out to go bowling with girl scouts.  Boy was I tired last night!  But glad to have made the memories with the kids.

I am off to my second support group meeting in Boulder.  Keep telling us about your days and medical stuff too so we can be checking on each other.  Love you all,   Kelly
