Eeks! New Onc sending me for brain MRI :(

I established myself with a new Onc today because I moved out of state from where the diagnosis and treatment occurred. It has been 4+ years since my diagnosis. Stage 1, Grade 3, Node negative, 1.4 cm, ER/PR+, Her2neu-. I had lumpectomy, and did 4 DD AC and 4 DD Taxol, followed by 37 rads. Lupron, hormone meds ever since, etc. Blah blah blah, you guys know the story. Anyway, two months ago I started menstruating again after nothing for 4 years. At the same time, I started having this weird pins and needles feeling in a small area on my scalp, right above my right ear. Each time I get this sensation, it lasts less than a minute, then it's gone. It seems to happen almost exclusively when I am laying on that side at night. There isn't any pain per se, but it still nags me and it clearly raised red flags with her. What do you girls think about this? I really went into this appt downplaying the sensation as being related to my change in hormones with menstruating again, and now I am not so convinced. Her response was to listen to my description of the sensation and how often it occurs, then she immediately said that she needed to send me for an MRI of my brain. Anxiety has found me once again. Has anyone experienced this sensation?

I hope you have gotten your clean scan results back by now...fingers crossed!! I had brain mets, but no symptoms because of their location.
-
Vegasbaby,
Sorry you have this going on. All doctors are different, and maybe your new doctor is just one of the very thorough, cautious ones (which is a good thing, really). Wishing you the best,
Karen

Thanks Lisa and Karen...not only have I not gotten any results yet, but the darn docs office hasn't even called me to set it up yet! Onc said they would be calling me shortly and tomorrow it'll be three days since my visit with her. This wait is the worst part, as you both well know. I think I will call them tomorrow to see if I can get the ball rolling. Scanxiety is for the birds!!!
Lisa, interesting that you had no symptoms! This monster is quite stealthy, isn't it?
Karen, yes she does seem to be thorough. My previous onc was just awesome, and very thorough as well. I miss her a lot! Who'd think a person would miss their cancer doc? lol
I will keep you thoughtful ladies posted on my results, if I ever get in!

Wanted to update to any of those who are still thinking about me. Got my brain MRI scheduled for Oct 19th. Will keep you posted to any results. The bizarre pins and needles sensation is still there, but comes and goes. Ho hum. This stinks.
-
Hope the brain MRI doesn't see anything. Well, except for your brain, of course.
Best of luck.

Vegasbaby, not too much longer to wait....but oh boy, I bet it feels like a lifetime! WAITING...dont you think that word should be removed from the dictionary...as you say, it stinks! Im playing the waiting game myself right now Im right there with you on the stress. But Im wishing you all the best with your scan, and sending oodles of positive vibes that all comes back clear...and in a timely manner too!
Big hugs, Sue x

Thanks Leah and Sue!! So nice to see someone actually replying to me
I had my MRI today. It went fine but boy oh boy, are they going to see something! Just as it was wrapping up, I had a major "episode" of whatever this is that I'm feeling and it lasted for quite a while. Maybe that's a good thing? They should definitely be seeing something on that thing! Will keep you posted. Hoping to hear before the end of this week. Good luck Sue, on your waiting game as well. Keep us posted

Hi vegasbaby
I hope you get good results from your MRI today. Thought I should let you know that I experienced similar problems in the top of my head in the middle some time back. It started not long after I commenced taking Femara, and I initially panicked, told my Onc, however he did not seem particularly interested. I experienced it on and off for probably six months before it went away. Have not had any symptoms for probably over 2 years now. It may have been a vascular thing particularly since I now have high blood pressure and high cholestoral from the Femara. I did not have a problem before, so maybe it was related, who knows.

Oh!! I hope all goes well I two have to go for a CT scan on Friday because I am experiencing headaches (throbbing in my head i can hear blood pumping) dizziness unexplained weight loss, nausea, for about 2 months at first PCP thought it was a inter ear virus, then ran bunch of blood work because bp high and stomach pain did ultra sound found fibroids mother ovarian cyst with two daughter cysts, and a polyp in my gull bladder. I feel its all Tamoxifen side effects. I also have very bad personality change really witchy Have been happily married for 23 yrs this Thursday but Hate my husband don't want him to look at me touch me or talk to me.... Taking a break from tamoxifen for a month and having scan... I am praying its the pill from Hell and not a brain tumor
-
I am hoping this major episode you experienced was the result of anxiety from having the MRI. Thinking of you.
-
vegasbaby, hope you get good results today so you can leave worry behind.
cathy, hope yours is all due to the tamoxifen and they find a better hormonal for you.
-
I hope you got your results today and everything is okay. ((hugs))
-
Vegasbaby -- Great that you had an episode while IN the MRI -- as you said, it there's anything there to see, it will be seen. Hope they get back to you with the results soon!
-
Vegas baby, thinking of you and sending good vibes.
-
Vegasbaby - hope the MRI results come back benign . Thinking about you and hoping for the best!
Cathy - sorry you're going through this. Hope the CT scan goes well. It could very easily be the Tamoxifen causing your symptoms.

I wanted to update all you wonderful women...I know it's frustrating for me when I am following someone's posts and then they don't come back to update.
Got a call today from the Onc's office with my results. Turns out, the MRI came back showing absolutely nothing at all!! So I am thinking that what everyone has been saying about me for years now is actually true!!! I am nuts! LOL So anyway, the good news is that there is nothing in my brain that shouldn't be there. The nurse told me if I continue to have these "episodes" that I need to follow up with a neurologist. So I will start keeping a journal about it! Dodged another bullet here today

Cathy, hope your scan goes well and you get the same type of news. Keep us posted

Thanks again everyone. It feels so welcoming to know that you guys understand, and care.
Have a great weekend!!

Cathy ~ Sending good vibes for a negative scan tomorrow. Hoping symptoms are due to that dang 'ole pill. Please keep us posted.
