Had the biopsy today.......
So long story short - rash since Sept 24. Hasn't gone away....now is worse that it was in Sept. Pain is now in my under arm.
5 Drs seen - none of them said they suspect IBC. The first two didn't know what I had. Third Dr said shingles or contact dermatitis. I saw this same Dr today for the biopsy - she then changed her mind and said no, not shingles. She said she has seen 4 cases of IBC and mine didn't look like it. She said the rash would be redder. I asked her to feel the nodes in my underarm b/c it was tender. She said she felt one. I said isn't that bad, and she said it wasn't swollen, she just felt one. Ummmm okay. She couldn't explain the tenderness.
I saw a Dr at the walk in clinic on the 16th - he said mastitis, put me on Keflex which I have stopped b/c I see no improvement. And the Dr today also said she didn't feel it was mastitis.
So I had an ultra sound yesterday as well - and the tech said she didnt see anything "alarming"......but she isn't a Dr.
It's two weeks before I get the results from the punch biopsy. I am so worried. The Dr says she bets its a fungal infection......then why didn't the Kelfex work?! Isn't that for infections?!
I have one small stitch but the procedure didn't hurt at all, I didn't even feel the freezing needle and it took like two seconds and was like the size of a pin head! Is that enough?!
I am so so worried right now.

Thw waiting is horrible. Hopefully it won't actually take 2 weeks for results. That seems unreasonable! Chances are in your favor that it will be benign, but good for you for being persistant.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Lexi

I hope you hear B9 resultss soon!
As far as the keflex and the yeast infection - keflex wouldn't help a yeast infection; it's only for bacterial infections.
Best of luck.

I had my biopsy yesterday also, she took 3 different samples off the breast, It did'nt hurt alittle itchy today, I get my results hopefully Friday, They really should'nt take two weeks. Like you I praying for B9 on the IBC, and hopefully some answers as to what it is. Wishing you all the best and B9

Thanks ladies. Should I have asked her to take samples from different spots?! If it was just the rash I doubt I would be so worried, but the under arm tenderess and breast tenderness are what freaks me out. Why would a fungal rash have that?!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. The waiting really IS the hardest part, it is very true. I got the worst-case scenario of confirmation of IBC and even I felt so much better when I found out although it doesn't make much sense really.
Either way, you will be fine. You probably don't have IBC, just statistically. But if you do, you will be treated and treatments are literally better and more successful every single year. You are stronger than you know you can be.
Many hugs,
Pam

I had my biopsy results in less than 24 hours. 2 weeks?? That's crazy. You better not have to wait that long. I am getting a benign vibe for you, however. Hugs!

Hi there,
Just wondering if you have gotten any word on your biopsy yet. Did you end up going to London hospital at all?
Hope all is well!

I think this is normal. (?)
I was also given antibiotics as a way to "rule out" infection to try to explain the massive matts of lymph nodes in my chest.
It is noteworthy that staph (infections) have developed resistence to antibiotics lately, and may not be as effective in treating an infection.
I am the queen of fungus...my immune system is not real perky after all of the cancer treatment.
I agree that the punch biopsy is in order.
If it's not breast cancer, then you probably need to see a dermatologist...It took 9 weeks to resolve my last bout.

Rash is gone. Pretty much - they turned into red spots, then slowly faded. The Dr I saw last night said he wouldn't even treat what I showed him.
Now I have shooting breast pain, collerbone and radiates down my arm. I don't know what to think.

Hi there TammyLou, I just wondered, when you say "your last bout" what you are referring to.
I have had a red and enflammed breast for 2 months now, and have been on antibiotics for 1 month of that time... but I'm not sure if they've really done anything. One node is swollen too. I'm waiting now for a core biopst result.
Did you get a diagnosis for yours?
Thanks a lot
