Hello everyone...
Just found this forum...I had breast cancer ...and one year before my husband had colon cancer..
what luck...both are doing great now...He was a health nut before that and now even more so than ever. He reads a lots and shares it with me..We are doing great now...If anyone is interested I will be glad to share what he wrote and gives it away...It makes the most sense of anything he has ever he says and we go by the recomendation to the letter...It has to do with food processing and omega 6 and omega 3 parent essential oils...If anyone is interested send the email to my husbands email sid_aust@msn.com and he will send it...As I do not know how to send the attachment...Just refer to wife comments on the breast forum. He loves to share with anyone and hopefully it will benifit..It comes from The Hidden Story Of Cancer...by Brian Peskin...you will be shocked what we are not told..anyway if interested..just send the email..All cancer is caused by lack of oxygen to the cells (Dr Otto Warburg)
Anyway you will like and be happy to have been able to find it and use it... as we are all looking for answers our doctors don't seem to have.
simple,simple..
thanks

Stayhealthy's post reported for spam and misinformation. All cancer is NOT caused by lack of oxygen to the cells. Simple, simple? Breast cancer? Otto Warburg? Your husband has a simple secret cure for cancer that we can email him for? Give me a break.
-
I did not say cure...you said that...there will never be a cure for cancer not in my lifetime. It all has to do with nutrition....and what we eat...
-
that is so stupid of you to say that anyway...you need to study some yourself and then you will know the facts...
-
Hi Stayhealthy,

OK, substitute "treatment" for "cure," and it's still BS. I'm sure your husband is a brilliant and generous man, but our lives depend on our treatment and it's nonsense to suggest that your husband holds the secret in his email box. Bah. -
2) Fish oil 2000 mg a day for post menopausal high cholesterol as an alternative to a statin drug
This is one of the supplement you said you took....Fish oil is awful, awful, We have been misled to believe it is a wonderful supplement and its not...throw it in the garbage and is no subsubstite for statin...did you doctor tell you that? It causes problems down the road....

Please read and study the link...His research is based on hard science and he lectures to doctors all over the world and they seek him out for his research...
thanks

Busted nutri-man. You've been reported on several threads.

how long did you all take Indole-3 for? My naturopath is taking me off AHCC and BCQ after 6 months. We are revisiting the indole in January which would be about 9 months (of taking the pills). I'm actually delighted to be taking less pills but was just curious what other people's experiences were.

Deanna, I now take arimidex and am considering adding broccoli seed extract (which has sulforaphane glucosinolate, which I'm guessing also involves DIM or I3C). Have you heard anything about what happens if this supplement and arimidex are taken at the same time? I am concerned that the broccoli seed extract might block the anti-estrogenic effect of arimidex, or vice versa. Thanks and good wishes to all, Rose
-
Roseroscoe - the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract are both aromotase inhibiters so you are enhancing the effect of arimidex by adding the BSE.

ive founds the contoversy with flaxseed to take/or not very interesting. there are conflicting views about soyh products. some say they prevent reoccurences w/ post meepoal women;some say its' a problem if you have her 2 neu. for now, im avoiding soy, and any estrophytogens. takee 2000 mg. of fish oil; and grape seed extract. i can tell you, i've Dried up from it, and figure its' working as a natural als. i could not handle se's from any of the RX als.. am talking to onco the 29th about her research on soy: so we'll get yet, another opinion. i know i started grape seed because someone i know here referred me to the mayo clinics studies on it. its working for me, no side effects, so why not! hope my 2 cents helps.. light and love, 3jaysmom

Barbara, Thanks much for the input. Since both arimidex & broccoli seed extract are AIs, do you or does anyone know if there is evidence showing that they would enhance rather than compete with each other? My onc says they could compete, my holistic doctor wants me to try it. Sometimes it's crazy-making trying to stradle the border between holistic and conventional medicine. Arimidex has been working for me (based on estradiol & estrone blood tests) with SEs that I can live with, but a 24-hour urine test by my holistic doctor showed a problem in a pathway that processes estrogen. That's when she recommended BSE. The problem apparently isn't urgent, because (due to Arimidex) there isn't much estrogen in my system to begin with. Still, I want to iron out any kinks in my system. Sorry for making this post about my story, but perhaps this info might be helpful to PiscesMoon and others, in weighing factors involved in taking supplements. By the way, I also take multivitamins, 2000 mgs. D3, about 3000 mgs omega3 fish oil, calcium, magnesium, probiotics. Any more input about BSE combined with arimidex? Thanks. Peace. Love. RoseRoscoe

I started a thread last year (shortly after my diagnosis) about my supplement regime, and it was a looooong list. I figured I wanted as much cancer-fighting help as I could get and wanted to quickly restore depleted nutrient levels.
Gradually, I have transitioned to getting key nutrients in fresh, organic whole foods, and the only supplement I take daily is iodine (either Iodoral or Lugol's). The reason I still take that one is that that's one that's hard to get in daily food (kelp is very iodine-rich, but it also is often contaminated with mercury and other heavy metals).
So, my "supplement" regimen would really look more like this:
- cod liver oil + daily sunshine exposure (for vitamin D)
- green tea (2 cups a day)
- brewer's yeast (for B vitamins)
- cayenne (for improved blood circulation)
- cinnamon (for insulin/blood sugar regulation)
- freshly-ground flax seeds (for omega-3's and natural lignans - great for breast health)
- plenty of organic veggies (for alkalinization, thinner blood, etc.)
- curry several times a week (for the turmeric - great cancer-fighting spice - I usually dump some turmeric and black pepper or cayenne on my daily two pastured eggs)
- plenty of filtered, fluoride-free water with organic lemon (for alkalinization and lots of other good reasons)
- pastured eggs (for DHA/omega-3, CLA's, vitamin D, vitamin A, etc.)
- apricot kernels (for amygdalin)
- exercise (for oxygenation, circulation, proper hormone balance)
- a good night's sleep in complete darkness (for proper melatonin levels which affects other hormone balance)
Basically, I challenge myself to cram as many anti-cancer foods, herbs and spices into each meal as possible. I stopped consuming ALL fast food and processed food (eliminating all chemical additives and GMO ingredients) after my diagnosis last year so that I'm not introducing new carcinogens or negating the positive effects of all the good foods I'm eating. -
Roseroscoe, I don't understan why your onc thinks A and BSE would 'compete'. they are doing the same thing with one exception: BSE helps any remaining estogen metabolize properly. ????
-
Along with a diet and exercise regimen and doing other things such as dry skin brushing, saunas, alternating hot and cold water in my showers, meditation, relaxation and visualization, etc., these are the supplements I take:
CoQ10 - 3 capsules a day
Maitake D - 3 capsules a day
Melatonin - 3 mg. before bed
Vitamin D - 2000 IU daily
Curcumin - 3 capsules a day
Nutrasea Omega 3 supplement - 2 capsules a day
Complete Calcium - 1 caplet per day
Green tea - 3 cups daily
Flax seed - 2 tbsps per day
Flax seed oil - 2 tbsps per day
Special botanical supplement to help boost my immune system that is made up of: red clover, burdock, mistletoe, cleavers, calendula, poke root and wild indigo.

Barbara, Good point. Thanks, Rose

Julie, buy these books:
Foods to Fight Cancer - Richard Beliveau
The Anti Cancer - David Servan Schrieber
I work with a nutritional biochemist who assists me in what foods and supplements I need. Feel free to PM me for his info. He helps me by ordering estrogen metabolization tests as well as a genomic assay test to see what foods/drugs/chemicals I am not metabolizing properly. I am very comfortable with his recommendations and the way I feel. And my last estrogen level test was reported as undetectable.

Can I also ask where do you buy this DIM I hear so much about??? Thanks
-
bump
-
Julie, I bought my DIM at www.vitacost.com, although I'm sure any high-quality health food store would carry it.
-
Deanna,
Could you tell me or PM me the name of the mushroom supplement you mentioned?
Many thanks,
Bliss
-
I take:
green tea extract
resveratrol
curcumin
vit D
Calcium
DHA
-
MsBliss, the mushroom supplement that I use (UCLA recommended) is THORNE MYCO-IMMUNE. It's a liquid in a dropper bottle. If you can't find it elsewhere, I know you can order it on-line from UCLA's Reflections shop. I also add mushrooms to my diet as often as possible. Deanna

I haven't read all the pages on this thread. However, this caught my eye. I will have to find you the research on this, but once upon a time a man named Constantine posted on our sight and helped us very much with alternatives and traditional meds. He said any cruciferous veggie interferes with AIs. Also garlic. I don't have time to find his research, but I will look this weekend. I will either PM you are post back here IF I DON'T FORGET! LOL
-
Shirley -- Your post about cruciferous veggies and garlic really took me by surprise and was quite upsetting (I know you didn't do it on purpose!). I'm on Femara and have been taking dried garlic supplements to lower my cholesterol (and they've been working). I've also added a lot more cruciferous veggies to my diet over the last couple of years.
I don't remember anyone called Constantine (before my time, I guess) and I've done some looking on the internet regarding garlic and AIs. I found one limited study done by Swedish researchers several years ago which was inconclusive. I really hope you are able to give us some reference points about this. Thanks!

On the subject of aspirin, nsaids and other cox2 inhibitors being beneficial, this is from the National Cancer Institute:
Why is the National Cancer Institute (NCI) studying COX inhibitors in cancer prevention and treatment?
More than a decade of epidemiologic research suggests that people who regularly take drugs that block COX enzymes have lower rates of certain precancers, cancers, and cancer-related deaths. The data are most consistent for colorectal cancer, but this reduction in risk is also seen for other cancers. Laboratory and animal studies using a variety of NSAIDs and COX-2 specific inhibitors show a decrease in cancer incidence with the use of these compounds. On a molecular level, studies have shown that the inhibition of the COX pathway changes the characteristics of cancer cells by reducing cell proliferation, increasing programmed cell death, reducing formation of blood vessels to feed cancer cells, and changing the body's immune response.

My revised list:
Vit D3 & C, Calcium, CoQ10, Selenium, Fish Oil and Melatonin.
And a cup of blueberries daily w/ organic flax seeds sprinkled on it. Plus plenty of other healthy food options that fight CANCER...
