Two years ago - I was in the midst of chemo.

Yesterday I ran a marathon - 26.2 miles.

Here is my recap blog if you are interested...blog

Congrats to Bev and Kerry who ran their half marathons (13.1 miles) yesterday (Kerry) and last week (Bev)

F U B C

Funny story - I had FU written on one arm and BC written on the other arm - some guy stopped me during the race and said "Guess you hate Boston College?"  I was very confused until I realized he was talking about my arms....I said - "Uh no - Boston College is fine but Breast Cancer sucks!)

    Yeah, awesome accomplishment!

Two years ago I was going through the awful diagnostic stage, terrified and thinking my life was pretty much over.

With loads of encouragement from Mary, yesterday I ran 13 miles.

    FUBC indeed!

Mary!!!! You go girl!!! Such an inspiration!! I love your honest and heartfelt writing in your blog. We have all been at that point  - pushed to our very limits - where we want to turn around, or sit down...but how many of us dig deep and keep going a step at a time and push those boundaries of ourselves out just a little but further!! Long may she run!!

Congrats to all of you running marathons and half marathons.  Saw your pix of Newport Mary, and they remind me how much I love the place.  Just the most spectacular scenery.

I did a 40 mile group ride yesterday.  New destination, and I did the hill just fine.  YAY!!!  The most glorious weather and scenery.

Thanks again Mary for keeping all of us rolling.  And a major congrats on the marathon. - Claire

Mary..question for you...how much training did you do b-4 the full marathon?  Did you run b-4 BC?  I started walking during treatment..now am running..but right now just doing 5K's..I feel I could run more than that...but mostly I would like to improve my time.  I'm very impressed..26 miles..that is just awesome!

    Mary,

You are a great inspiration to me and to so many.  Congratulations, too, to Kerry and Bev.  Kerry, saw your pics on Facebook.  You all look fantastic!

    You are all ROCK STARS!

I was telling my husband yesterday about your accomplishment, and you may have just inspired us to run a half marathon next year. Uh Oh, now that I've written it down I don't think I can back out of it!

Congratulations - you should be so proud of yourselves. I know I'm proud of you :-)

Congrats & thanks for the inspiration.  I have one more chemo treatment and then exchange surgery, probably in November.

You're inspired me to set a goal for myself.

By October, 2011, I want to be walking 20 miles a week.  I know it's not a marathon but I've never been much of a runner.

LOL - you must really hate Boston College.  Too funny!

Treadsoftly - good luck!!! I am sure you will do great - keep us posted!

Bec - 20 miles a week is a great goal - let us know how you are doing!

Titan - I did run before diagnosis - was working on a half marathon but blew my knee right before diagnosis.  Since diagnosis I have run countless 5ks, a half and now a full marathon.  The marathon training was 16 weeks (Hal Higdon) and I already miss the structure!

Jaqueline - yay!  You can do it!!!!  Ask Kerry, ask Bev.

Everyone else - thanks for your support - I always think of you all as I am running.

Congrats on being a marathoner! I really can't imagine running 26 miles at once. I've done 2 sprint tri's - the Danskin and the Jersey Girl. It really keeps me training to have a goal and you do feel better about yourself and your health.

    Congratulations!! 26.2 miles....WOW!!

After my chemo treatment I began working out too. About a year later I got into running and haven't stopped since. I ran my first half marathon in Feb 2010 (amazing experience) and I'm currently training for my 2nd half marathon in Feb 2011.  I average about 20 miles a week. Love that runners high!!

This December marks my 3 year canceranniversary and I plan to run that day too!!

     Congratulations again!! Gotta run!
