Oklahoma girls (or guys) out there?

Hey Okie Warriors!
Heading out to my 2nd TC treatment tomorrow at 10:30am CST. Been making myself even crazier this time around...First treatment went fairly well and I'm hoping for the same. But, I've been reading some and hearing that some ladies have unexpected things come up on the 2nd treatment. So, of course, I'm letting my mind run wild and it will not bode well for me tonight as I try and get the sleep I need. Ugh...
At any rate..hope you are all doing well....
Read an article today that said Oklahoma has had like 70 earthquakes this year alone...weird, huh?
Have a great night,
Tori

Felt the earthquake and the house kept shaking, but we live near the epicenter. What a ride!
Hi ToriGirl, my 2nd chemo round was much easier that the first, but my onc dr changed my nausea meds which helped. Hope you are doing well this go around so far. My worse days are 4th and 5th days post chemo.
Peace and Laughter,
Cheryl

How did your treatment go, Tori? The first was the worst for me - just not knowing what to expect! Mine didn't get worse at all, if anything they got easier. My worst days were usually Sunday/Monday after TC on Thursday and the Neulasta shot on Friday. Just keep counting them down!
I did my 15th radiation treatment today - so far, so good. I'm a little pink but not bad at all. Glad for a two-day break though.
Kat43, hope you had good news from your mammogram.
Hang in there - us Okie girls are a pretty tough breed!

HI, I'M FROM GLENCOE. FIVER05, ARE YOU DOING TREATMENT IN STILLWATER?
-
Hi Cherylynn, yes I'm doing treatment in Stillwater. I see you were diagnosed in 2008 - did you go to Stillwater also?
Teri
-
YES, I DID CHEMO AND RADIATION IN STILLWATER. DR. PUCKETT CHEMO DR. ( LITTLE CONFUSED WHY HE QUIT) DR. CLARK RAD DR

Okie Warriors,
2nd treatment yesterday seemed to go off really well yesterday. No unexpected allergic reactions and it went by quicker than the first treatment.
I was pretty tired last evening as the night before I only got about 2 hours of sleep due to the pre-meds I was taking for treatment, so I went to bed early.
I'm feeling pretty well this morning (the first treatment first couple of days were okay too), so I am going to get some breakfast in me and try and make it out for my morning walk. I'm thinking that SEs will start to hit tomorrow night and for 4-5 days after..ugh. Husband leaves for out of town tomorrow until the 29th, so I'm hoping the side effects are tolerable and nothing unexpected or scary comes up, cuz I'm on my own! Yikes!
Thanks for checking in when you can Okie ladies! It's nice to have a little group to call our own and check in on each other!
Have a great weekend!

Tori, did you try Claritin? I think it helped some, read about it on the boards here. Can't remember - do you have to have the neulasta shot?
Cheryl, I had Dr. Puckett thru chemo too. There are now four radiation doctors from Tulsa who rotate, I think I've seen each of them now!

My mammogram was fine, it made me really sore due to the seroma in that breast but they did not see anything to worry about. We talked about me having an MRI and mammogram on both breast in six months at the next checkup. I go see my oncologist next monday for the 3 month checkup with her then in Nov a check up with the breast surgeon. Your stay busy going to all these appointments. Kathleen

Bettis, I live in Broken Arrow too, raised here since 1957! I was diagnosed Dec 2009 with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma in the left breast. Had double mastectomy, 3 cancer cells in my left lymph nodes (removed twenty), four sugeries (one emergency, tubing infection and replacement) and eight chemo's. Hard road and TIRED, on-going treatments for seven months. Was stated as stage 2, though they said I have had this for seven or more years...slow moving. Thank God he alerted me and healed me through it all!
-
Hi mrsnjband - I live in Broken Arrow, OK, since 1957. So far we have another Broken Arrowan, named Bettis! Great to meet our NEIGHBORS!

Ladies, soon will be time for me to get a bra fitting (yay! had the revision Wednesday and it looks sooo good!).
Do you know any place in OKC that has real professional bra fitters? I dont' want to go with the regular bras from the store, I want a really good, expensive bra. I know it can make a world of difference on how your reconstruction keeps up.
-
Half way thru my chemo as of today! Yeah then rads for 7-8 weeks daily then rest of Hepceptin every 3 weeks.
Day, Victoza Secret store has professional bra fitters. And they have great styles of bras for us women recovering from BC.
Keep well all of you
Peace and laughter,
Cheryl

Cheryl!
Yay on being halfway through with chemo! I will be there after this Friday's treatment!
I will have rads too...but will cross that bridge when I come to it...one thing at a time, right!
Hope you are doing well...
Okies thanks for checking in!

Hello Okie Ladies! Today was my 2nd radiation boost - 6 more to go and I am all done! My skin is doing good, I think. Burned about like a really bad sunburn, and itches, but not as bad as I was afraid of. Most of it should start to heal now, except for the scar area where the boosts are aimed at. I used Biafine lotion - expensive, but think it saved my skin.
Radiation is so much easier (for me anyway!) than chemo. It's a hassle having to go every day, but I work only a few minutes from the Cancer Center. In & out of there in 30 minutes max, except for Tuesdays when I see the doctors.
Congrats Cheryl & Tori on being halfway thru chemo! Hang in there...

Teri!
Glad to hear from you! You must be so excited to being only 6 away form being done! Woo Hoo!
I must keep biafine lotion in mind when I go through rads...
Have a great night and let us know when you are done so we can celebrate with you, ok?

The Biafine lotion is prescription only, and in my case my insurance (Aetna) won't pay for it. It cost me $35.00 per tube, but I think it's money well spent. I used it after a chemo "accident" and it worked great for me then. What happened was at my very last chemo, during the Taxotere infusion - went to the bathroom dragging my pole of drugs, when washing my hands I accidently bumped the needle on the sink, pushing it through the vein. So some Taxotere went directly under my skin! It was only a couple minutes before I could get out of the bathroom and the nurses shut it off. But I had a big bubble on my arm! With all the other drugs in me, it didn't really start hurting for a few days - but then...WOW...it hurt! Ended up being a burn of about 2" x 6" on my arm. Long story short...Biafine was the only thing that helped - and that's why I use it for the radiation burn.

I USED BIAFINE THE FIRST FEW RADS, MOVED ON TO SILVERDENE IT IS EXCELLENT

Just an update, I have cellulitis. I'd been having some small issues but no one seemed that concerned about it. I went to the PCP and he put me on a z-pak. On Saturday evening I started running a fever and by Sunday a.m. I had a HUGE red rash that started on my side and came around to my tummy and my fever was higher.
So I went to urgent care, who sent me to the er, who then admitted me. I've had a couple of iv antibiotics. I feel much better now but they are going to keep me another day. So I post this so that if any of you ladies have this problem to not let this go. NJ
-
NJ,
Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, but I'm so glad that you know what is going on and have it under control now.
Take care of you, get some rest, and let us know when you are home..
Sending prayers your way!

I came home on Tuesday and went back to work on Wednesday. I thought I might be a little tired from lying in bed for 3 days but I did really well. The red areas are almost completely gone. Hopefully I am on the mend and this thing will go away for good!
Sending love & prayers to ALL! NJ

Welcome home NJ!
Wow! Back to work so soon? You are a trooper!
But, I really am glad that it all worked out for you and that you are recuperating nicely! Looks like we are gonna have some beautiful weather this weekend, so I hope you can find some time to enjoy it!
Peace and prayers,
