Hi everyone!..Just new to this thread..I just diagnosed with "DCIS"..Have seen oncologist and told that i have DCIS and need to see surgeon, because she suggested ME to have a lumpectomy and then radiation and probably tamoxifen..I have already seen the surgeon's too and he requested to have another mamo and ultrasound so he could see the whole area where the cells located..Done the mamo and ultra and the radiologist found some suspicious cyst and she wanted to have needle biopsy..The surgeon says that he wanted to see yet the film so he could tell if he would get it out during the surgery or needed to have the needly biopsy..My concern is, i have breast pain all the time since these all procedures had started..Back pain as well..I am so scared to death and can't concentrate on anything due to this pain..Is there anyone who has the same situation like mine?..I would appreciate any input re-pain..My prayers to all!..GOD BLESS!

it seems that we all get these random pains.. the needle biopsy was actually prety bad for me. i almost stopped in the middle of it. your back pain may be related to stress.. take one day at a time... and research and read.... and communicate with doctors, freinds, others in the same boat.. join the forums. you are not alone

Have you got the result already?..What step are you in now?..Me, waiting for the surgery, scheduled Oct. 14th..The waiting is the hardest..Trying to keep busy just not to get to me..I hope and pray that your result will be ok..We all have to go through with this, and its not that easy..Lot of days i feel depressed and alone..Lots of praying and crying..I am glad that i found this site where i can read people post that have the same situation and sometimes it makes me feel that i am not alone..It helps relieve some stress..Let us know how you are doing..I'll keep you in my prayers..May God guide and protect us all..Hugs!..

the  bioppsy was very painful, the table was uncomfortable.. i even felt the cutting of the tissue so it wasnt a walk in the park. he even showed me the x ray which he clearly told me dont worry. it was classic DCIS.. I went outside of the town to the larger city, des moines Ia. since i am 60, I was able to have the week radiation.. my tumor was also small eventhough high grade. at the endof the july, i received a clean bill of health.. and still now i worry. we all do.

the beginning is truly the hardest. 1 of 8 has breast cancer, those are good odds yet we got it.. so when they give these low precentages, i still think i was unlucky to be 1 of the 8... but as each day goes by, our mind starts thinking of living... and you too will feel that way.

I am 60 years old, did the lump and SAVI radiation and on taxofin ( and no ill effects from that just that it tastes awful)

Helena- How are you doing?.I just had my lumpectomy thursday the 14th..I am on the recovery situation..I have a post-op next week..The first day of the surgery i felt pain, just took some tylenol every four hours, it helps a little bit.Now I don't know what to expect..I hope there is no invasion cells they will find..I am glad that you don't feel any side effect with the radiation and tamox..How did the radiation went?..I am a little scre about the radiation, but you said it went ok..So you are now on tamox right?.. How long will you have to take this tamox?..Well i would really appreciate if you keep posting about your situation, so i can have some idea on how i will get through with this..By the way i am 52 yrs old..Thank you for your respond and praying that we all will get thru with this..May God  be with us..Hugs!..

i felt little pain afer surgery... the nannosite was easy - two times a day for a week - they had to insert a tube into my breast and it burst on the way home. had to go back and get it taken out and then b ack again the next day.. the radiation was easy.. since it was only a week but taking the tube out.. well i am fast healer and it healed right into the boob. it was incredibly painful.. but after that.. pain once in awhile.. most of my pain i found out later was caused by an improprer bra that didnt fit well near the lymp node removal.. did you have any taken out. I only had two.. and it was worse afterwards than the lump.. but bras are important to support the breasts as well...

i am on tamox and while i had finished menapause, and the hot flashes, they are back. i am not having the other issues except that swallowing that pill is hard.. it isnt coated.. and sticks in my throat = argh....

otherwise except for being tired and falling asleep at 9:30 i feel well. they didnt tell me all the preacuations after having even two lymp nodes removed so watch out for that.

our situations are quite similiar.. my er and pr are 100 and 90 so tamox was made for me... eventough the doc told me that the bioposy actually took out the entire tumor.. and much wide margins, i did have comedo cells and high grade,, somehow I was relieved slightly when the actual pahtology said i had 2 and 3.. instead of all 3.. it just seemed better.

but the best words i have seen on the boards is that. they can cut out the cancer but it remains in the mind and heart.. and it takes a long time to come to peace with it.. otherwise i wouldnt still

    wouldnt be here.
