Is the oncotype dx test even necessary for me?

Mindy don't be so sure about going on tamoxofin? If you do end up doing chemo it will put you in chemo-pause. At our age our cycles won't come back. Because of this my oncologist will be putting me on Armidex after chemo.

Also remember that the oncologist will take your current medical state into consideration as well as your stage. S/he may not put you on as harsh chemo drugs and certainly not as many cycles due to your health. S/he may also consider less harsh drugs if you do the horomone suppression therapy. These are things you should discuss. Remember always go with a list of questions.

Well today is the 15th and my oncotype dx score is 15! I am so relieved that I won't need chemo. The waiting was really killing me. lago, I am post menopausal and has been well over a year since my last cycle, so I suppose that is why my onco decided on arimidex for now.

When I see him next, we'll talk about any SE and stuff. A lady I know here where I live who is older than me takes femera. She experiences no SEs. My onco said he isn't aware that femera is available in generic but my friend gets it, so I am on arimidex for now. Or at least I will start it tomorrow.

Strange instructions: "Take 1 tablet daily for breast cancer." It still bothers me to hear that. Even though I am NED, I still have breast cancer.

Yay winterstorm, No Chemo for you!!!

Yes Arimidex is the only aromatase inhibitor available in generic form. Aromatase inhibitors are supposed to work a little better than Tamoxofin with less SE from what I read. If you are worried about your bone density this is something you should discuss with your ONC regarding Arimidex.

    Awesome news Mindy!

I am so happy for you.  I have read several studies that say Zometa taken with tamoxiphen or aromatase inhibitors will prevent reocurrance, strengthen the bones and prevent bone mets.
